Dive Beat Club

Dive Beat Club is situated in Sabang, Puerto Galera, on the island of Oriental Mindoro in the Philippines. It is a short journey of just over three hours from Manila, placing you in one of the region's most established diving hubs.

As a PADI 5 Star centre, the operation focuses on high-quality professional instruction and reliable equipment. The centre has established itself through a dedicated approach to both recreational diving and more specialised disciplines like technical diving and freediving.

The centre is run by a resident team of three instructors: Rachel, Toro, and Yang. This permanent presence ensures continuity and stability for divers looking to complete multi-day training programmes or technical courses.

Instruction is provided in English, making it accessible for international divers. The team maintains a strong ecological ethos, using biodegradable cleaning products and a zero-plastic policy, even encouraging divers to participate in marine conservation by collecting debris from the water.

The training catalogue is diverse, covering everything from introductory recreational diving to advanced technical diving. You can work through standard PADI certifications or pursue specialised training in freediving and apnea.

For those looking to push their limits, the centre's expertise in technical diving makes it a suitable base for more complex training requirements.

The shore-based facilities are designed for comfort between dives, featuring hot showers and a Nespresso machine with freshly ground coffee available 24/7. The centre also provides stylish Divebeat ponchos for use on site.

In line with their environmental commitment, the centre has moved away from single-use plastics, providing stainless steel mugs for guests to use instead.

The reefs around Sabang are vibrant, characterised by a rich tapestry of hard corals, soft corals, and various gorgonians. You will find a diverse range of corals including brain coral, staghorn corals, mushroom coral, lettuce coral, and table corals, alongside large sponges and sea fans.

In the open water and along the reef edges, you can encounter larger species such as green sea turtles (Chelonia mydas), hawksbill turtles (Eretmochelys imbricata), and various rays including blue-spotted stingrays. Schools of fish are a constant presence, featuring snappers (Lutjanidae), butterflyfish (Chaetodon), parrotfish (Calotomus), and various species of jacks (Carangidae), alongside emperor fish and fusiliers (Caesio).

For macro enthusiasts, the area offers significant variety. Look for nudibranchs (Chromodoris willani), pygmy seahorses (Hippocampus bargibanti), and various species of pipefish (Syngnathidae). The seabed is also home to many crustaceans, including mantis shrimp (Stomatopoda), cleaner shrimp (Lysmata), and various species of crabs and shrimp.
