Buddha View Dive Centre

Buddha View Dive Centre is an established PADI operation located on the island of Koh Tao, Thailand. With over two decades of experience, the centre has built a reputation for reliable instruction and a genuine commitment to the local marine environment. They operate from two main locations: the primary dive centre in Tanote Bay, which offers direct beach access, and a booking office at their hostel in Mae Haad.

The centre is well-equipped for both recreational divers and those pursuing professional paths. Whether you are looking for a relaxed shore dive or a more structured training programme, the facilities include an on-site diving pool and air-conditioned classrooms to ensure a comfortable learning environment.

The team consists of 12 professional instructors, providing a high level of support for students and divers alike. They maintain a strict ratio of two divers per guide, ensuring close supervision and safety during every excursion.

Because of the international nature of the diving community in Thailand, the staff is multilingual. You can expect to communicate in English, French, German, Spanish, Turkish, Czech, Thai, or Australian English, making the centre accessible to a wide range of global travellers.

The course catalogue is extensive, covering the full spectrum of PADI certifications. Beginners can start with Discover Scuba Diving or the Open Water Diver course, while more experienced divers can progress through Advanced Open Water Diver, Rescue Diver, and Divemaster training.

Specialty training is a significant part of the curriculum, with options including PADI Deep Diver Specialty, Wreck Diver Specialty, Nitrox, and Sidemount. Larger predators like great barracudas, yellowtail barracudas, and various species of trevallies move through the water column, while reef sharks, including Blacktip reef sharks (Carcharhinus melanopterus), can also be spotted.

For those interested in macro life, the area is excellent for finding unusual critters. Look closely at the reef for Nudibranch (Chromodoris willani), various species of sea slugs, octopus (Octopus vulgaris), and shrimp (Caridea). You may also find seahorses (Hippocampus kuda), pipefish, and various types of crabs and hermit crabs among the crevices.

The hard and soft coral structures provide the essential architecture for this habitat. You will see various forms of hard corals (Scleractinia), soft corals (Alcyonacea), sea fans (Gorgoniidae), and sea whips, alongside sponges (Porifera) and colourful sea anemones (Actiniaria). These structures support a massive variety of life, from tiny gobies to larger species like the grouper (Epinephelus).
