Bulles Plongee

Bulles Plongée is situated on the Maguelone beach in Palavas-les-Flots, just 10 km from Montpellier. The centre is positioned within the Pôle Nautique du Palavas Camping, offering a convenient base for divers looking to explore the Hérault coastline.

The club operates with a focus on environmental respect and marine protection, supporting initiatives such as Coral Guardian and Project Aware. Whether you are looking for shore dives in the local lagoons or boat trips to the nearby calanques, the centre provides a structured and professional environment.

The team is led by professional instructors holding BEES1 and DEJEPS qualifications. This level of expertise ensures that training and guided dives are handled with a high standard of safety and technical knowledge.

Instruction is available in French, and the centre caters to a wide range of ages, including dedicated 'discovery of the sea' workshops for children. The club maintains a year-round schedule, accommodating both morning and afternoon sessions, as well as night dives and afterwork diving slots.

The centre is highly versatile in its training, offering certifications through PADI, SSI, and FFESSM. For those following the French federation route, they teach FFESSM Niveau 1 through to Niveau 4.

Advanced divers can pursue specialised training including Nitrox, Deep Diver, and Wreck Diver courses. The curriculum also covers Rescue Diver and Divemaster levels, as well as RIFA (Secourisme Plongée) for those looking to enhance their safety and first aid skills in the water.

The centre utilises a boat with a dedicated pontoon located just 3 metres from the club, allowing for easy loading of cylinders and kit. This setup minimises the walk between the centre and the vessel, making departures efficient.

Boat trips include excursions to sites like Les Aresquiers, where the Jumper provides a platform for two-dive days, often including a picnic on board. The centre also organises group outings to Cassis and Mejean for full-day experiences.

Full equipment hire is available on-site, covering the essentials such as regulators, wetsuits, and fins. For those interested in night diving, torches are provided as part of the kit selection.

The centre is located at the Pôle Nautique, providing a professional infrastructure for divers to prepare for their sessions.

The local waters are home to a variety of Mediterranean species, including sea bream, wrasse, octopus, and conger eels. You will often find these around the reef flats and rocky structures.

For macro enthusiasts, the area is particularly rewarding. The seagrass meadows and shellfish lines host a variety of sea slugs, sea hares, and nudibranchs, providing excellent opportunities for close-up observation.

The Etang de Thau is especially noted for its high population of seahorses, which can be found amongst the algae and seagrass. This habitat also supports a diverse range of small invertebrates and nudibranchs.

Diving in the area is possible year-round, with the centre offering specific sessions for night diving. The Mediterranean environment here varies from the sheltered, shallow lagoons to the more open calanques.

Seasonal variations affect the marine life and the type of dive, with spring being a noted time for excursions to areas like Cassis.
