The reefs around Moorea are home to a wide array of tropical fish that inhabit the coral structures. You will find various species including Angelfish (Pomacanthidae), Butterflyfish (Chaetodon), and Parrotfish (Calotomus) navigating the reef. Schools of yellow perch and bigeye trevally are common sights, alongside Bannerfish (Heniochus) and Boxfish (Ostraciidae) moving through the water column.

For those interested in larger inhabitants, the area is well known for its resident sharks and rays. You can expect to see Blacktip reef shark (Carcharhinus melanopterus), lemon sharks, and various other Reef shark (Carcharhinus) species. Leopard rays also frequent the sandy patches and reef edges, adding to the pelagic interest of the local dives.

Sea turtles, including the green turtle and other Cheloniidae species, are also regularly observed patrolling the reef flats and deeper sections.
