Nemo'z Diving

Nemo'z Diving has been a fixture of the Moorea diving community since 1989. Operating from two convenient bases at the Intercontinental Resort & SPA and the Hilton Moorea Lagoon Resort & SPA, the centre provides easy access to the island's most diverse underwater environments.

Whether you are looking to complete your Open Water Diver certification or seeking a private expedition to encounter pelagics, the centre is structured to handle a wide range of requirements. They maintain a strong focus on safety and professional standards, ensuring that every dive, from the reef flat to the open ocean, is well-managed.

The team is composed of state-qualified instructors who are specialists in the local Pacific marine life. They operate with a strict guide-to-diver ratio of maximum four divers per instructor, ensuring close supervision and personalised attention during every outing.

Safety is a core component of their operations, with oxygen therapy kits carried on all vessels and instructors trained in first aid. For those interested in the discipline of breath-hold diving, the centre hosts the Bluenery Academy, a programme designed by world champion Guillaume Néry.

The centre provides a comprehensive range of training through PADI and SSI affiliations. Beginners can start with the Open Water Diver course, which requires six dives completed over four days, or begin with a French Level 1 programme involving lagoon and ocean sessions.

For more experienced divers, advanced certifications such as Advanced Open Water Diver, Rescue Diver, and specialties including Deep Diver, Wreck Diver, and Shark Specialty are available. They also offer Nitrox training and SSI/PADI referrals for those looking to transfer their training to Moorea.

The centre operates a versatile fleet of four boats, consisting of two aluminium vessels and two semi-rigid boats. Each vessel has a capacity for up to 18 divers, allowing for both small, private groups and larger scheduled outings.

Onboard, you will find water and snacks provided for your comfort. For those joining evening or night dives, a cocktail is served after the session. Nitrox is available on board for all qualifying divers.

Nemo'z Diving offers full equipment hire for divers who prefer not to travel with their own kit. As a Mares partner, the centre provides high-quality equipment to ensure reliability and comfort throughout your dives.

Shore-based facilities include access to all necessary amenities for preparing for your day on the water. The centre is well-equipped to handle both training sessions and exploration dives.

The waters around Moorea are home to an impressive array of pelagic species. You can regularly encounter lemon sharks, blacktip reef sharks, and oceanic whitetip sharks, alongside leopard rays and Southern stingrays. During the breeding season from September to October, lemon sharks are more frequently observed.

For those interested in larger marine mammals, Humpback whale expeditions are available from July to November. You may also encounter spinner dolphins, pilot whales, and various species of rays, including mobula rays, in the surrounding waters.

On the reef, the biodiversity is high, with sightings of green turtle, sea turtles (Cheloniidae), and various reef fish such as surgeonfish, parrotfish (Calotomus), and bigeye trevally. You will also see tuna, mahi-mahi, and Spanish mackerel patrolling the area.

Macro and smaller reef life includes octopus (Octopus vulgaris), moray eels (Muraenidae), and various species of anemone fish. Look closely around the reef structures to find pufferfish (Arothron hispidus), boxfish (Ostraciidae), and a variety of butterflyfish (Chaetodon), angelfish (Pomacanthidae), and clownfish (Amphiprion).

Diving in Moorea is possible year-round. The area is subject to occasional strong winds which can affect conditions, though the centre can often access leeward sites to maintain suitable diving environments.

Drift diving is a common feature of the local sites, so be prepared for moving water during your excursions.
