Scubapiti

Scubapiti is situated in Papetoai, on the island of Moorea in French Polynesia. Established in 2020, the centre is deeply rooted in the local community, led by Henri, a native of Moorea and a state-qualified instructor. This local connection provides a genuine perspective on the island's marine environments and seasonal rhythms.

The team is composed of experienced professionals, including Henri, who serves as an SDI/TDI Course Director and an OWSI for both PADI and SSI. He is joined by Marama, an SDI/TDI OWSI and local dive guide, and Paitia, who is currently training as a CPL and GPP. Maeva manages the administrative side of the centre.

The centre is affiliated with PADI, SSI, and SDI, ensuring that divers from various training backgrounds can find suitable programmes. The team places a significant emphasis on safety and the preservation of the local marine flora and fauna.

Scubapiti provides a comprehensive range of training through PADI, SSI, and SDI. Beginners can start with the Open Water Diver course, with various options for those wishing to complete their training via different agencies.

For more experienced divers, the centre offers Advanced Open Water Diver courses, specialty courses, and a Refresh Dive programme for those returning to the water after a break. Technical training is also available, including PE40 and specific technical dive modules.

The centre offers full equipment hire for divers who prefer not to travel with their own kit. For those requiring more capacity, 15-litre cylinders are available for an additional supplement.

For a more adventurous experience, the centre provides underwater scooters for hire, allowing you to cover more ground during your dives.

The seasonal highlight for Moorea occurs between August and November, when humpback whales are present in the waters around the island. These majestic mammals provide a unique opportunity for excursions during this specific window.

Beyond the seasonal visitors, the marine life is diverse, though specific species depend on the particular site and conditions of the day. The centre's focus on environmental respect ensures that all encounters with the local inhabitants are conducted responsibly.
