Activiseas

Activiseas is a dive centre based in Tahiti, French Polynesia, situated within the InterContinental Resort Tahiti in Faaa. Having taken over operations from TopDive in late 2024, the club has introduced a completely renewed fleet of equipment to serve the local diving community.

The centre serves as a gateway to the diverse marine environments surrounding the island, from the calm lagoon waters to the deeper, more technical offshore sites. Most of the best local dive spots are accessible within 30 minutes by boat, allowing for efficient dive schedules and plenty of time in the water.

The team at Activiseas is composed of professional instructors providing both PADI and FFESSM certifications. They operate with a focus on small groups to ensure a safe and attentive environment for every diver.

Instruction and guiding are available in both French and English, making the centre accessible to international divers. The atmosphere is designed to be family-oriented, catering to everyone from children starting their first breath underwater to experienced divers looking for technical challenges.

Activiseas offers a comprehensive curriculum through both PADI and FFESSM frameworks. Beginners can start with a Discover Scuba Diving (baptême) experience, which is accessible to those from 8 years of age.

For those seeking certification, the full range of PADI courses is available, including Open Water Diver, Advanced Open Water Diver, and the PADI Deep Diver specialty. The centre also provides Nitrox training to help divers manage their gas consumption and decompression profiles more effectively.

The centre operates the FIDUS, a modern vessel used for daily excursions. It provides access to various sites including the Passe de Papeete and the reefs of Punaauia.

Nitrox is available on board, allowing divers to extend their bottom times on multi-dive days. The boat is used for a range of activities, including exploration dives, night dives, and seasonal whale watching excursions.

Following their transition in 2024, the centre has invested in a full range of new, well-maintained diving equipment. This includes modern regulators, BCDs, and exposure suits suitable for local conditions.

Nitrox is available on-site for divers wishing to optimise their decompression limits. The centre is conveniently located at the InterContinental Resort, providing easy access to facilities for those staying on-site.

The marine life around Tahiti is diverse, ranging from vibrant reef fish to large pelagics. You will regularly encounter Butterflyfish (Chaetodon), Damselfish (Pomacentridae), and various species of Wrasse (Labridae). Schools of Snapper (Lutjanus), Grouper (Epinephelus), and Jack are common sights around the coral gardens and pinnacles.

For those looking for larger animals, the area is home to Grey reef shark (Carcharhinus amblyrhynchos), Whitetip reef shark (Triaenodon obesus), and Napoleon wrasse (Cheilinus undulatus). You may also spot sea turtles, stingrays, and Great barracuda (Sphyraena barracuda) patrolling the deeper walls and currents.

Macro enthusiasts can find various Nudibranchs, Moray eel (Muraenidae), and Lionfish (Pterois volitans) tucked into the crevices of the rocky faults and coral structures.

Seasonality plays a major role in the local wildlife; from July to November, the area hosts Humpback whales, providing unique opportunities for seasonal excursions.

Diving in the area involves a variety of environments, from the calm, protected waters of the Faa’a lagoon to the more exposed sites in the Passe de Papeete. Some sites, such as Les Trois Pitons and La Faille d’Arue, can experience strong currents that require a higher level of experience.

The topography includes deep vertical fissures, underwater pinnacles, and shallow wreck sites, meaning divers should choose their sites based on their current certification level and comfort with currents.
