Dive And Sea Tahiti

Dive & Sea Tahiti is situated in Puna'auia on the west coast of Tahiti, providing direct access to some of the island's most significant reef systems. The centre is built around a commitment to the local marine environment, including active participation in the removal of invasive Turbinaria ornata algae to protect the lagoon's health.

Operating with a fleet of four semi-rigid boats, the centre is positioned to reach key sites quickly. From the shallow, wreck-strewn waters of the lagoon to the deeper, current-swept reefs, the operation covers a broad range of underwater topographies.

The centre is affiliated with SSI, FFESSM, CMAS, and ANMP, ensuring that training and dive operations meet recognised international and local standards. The team focuses on a structured approach to diving, maintaining a ratio of maximum six divers per guide to ensure safety and individual attention.

Beyond standard recreational diving, the centre provides a pathway for professional development, offering courses from Divemaster through to Assistant Instructor. For younger divers, specific programmes including Bronze, Silver, and Gold levels are available to introduce them to the underwater world.

Training at the centre covers the full spectrum of scuba diving, from initial entry-level courses to professional instructor training. They offer the Open Water Diver and Advanced Open Water Diver certifications, alongside specialised training such as Deep Diver and Stress and Rescue.

For those following the French federation pathways, the centre provides Niveau 1 through Niveau 4, as well as PE40 and PA20. Professional tracks are also available, including Divemaster, Assistant Instructor, and Moniteur Fédéral 1er degré (MF1).

The fleet consists of four semi-rigid boats designed for speed and efficiency when travelling to the dive sites. These vessels allow for quick transit to the most iconic spots, such as Vallée Blanche, which is only 15 minutes away.

For night dives, the boats are fully equipped to handle the specific requirements of low-light exploration. The centre also organises seasonal whale watching excursions from their vessels.

The centre provides full kit hire, with equipment sourced from Scubapro. This includes BCDs, regulators, and other essential components, all maintained and serviced to ensure reliability for every diver.

On shore, the facilities are organised for efficiency, featuring a raised cylinder rack for easier handling. After a dive, a dedicated relaxation area is available where guests can enjoy coffee, tea, and snacks.

The reefs are home to a vast array of large pelagics and reef fish. You can regularly observe various shark species, including blacktip reef sharks, grey sharks, lemon sharks, and whitetip reef sharks, with tiger sharks also appearing in the area. Large schools of bigeye trevally, barracuda, and various groupers move through the water alongside parrotfish, triggerfish, and snapper.

In the coral gardens, the biodiversity is immense. You will find a variety of sea turtles, including green sea turtles and hawksbill turtles, navigating the reef. The seascape is decorated with colourful corals, including orange brain corals and purple gorgonians, alongside various species of rays and snapper.

For those interested in macro life, the sites offer plenty of smaller treasures. Nudibranchs, various species of shrimp, and diverse tropical fish like clownfish and porcupinefish inhabit the intricate structures of the reef and the wrecks at Aquarium Tahiti.

During the season from July to November, Humpback whales can be seen in the waters surrounding Tahiti.

The dive sites vary in their exposure to the elements. While many lagoon sites are sheltered, locations like Vallée Blanche are exposed to oceanic currents, which help maintain high visibility and a healthy ecosystem. These currents can be present but are generally considered manageable for divers of the appropriate level.

Visibility is notably better from May to October, when the waters are calmer and clearer. This period is often the most favourable for exploring the deeper reef structures.
