Tornado Marine Fleet is a long-established operator with over three decades of experience navigating the Red Sea. Since starting with a single vessel in 1989, they have grown into a respected fleet that now reaches beyond Egypt into Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Djibouti, and the Maldives.

Specialising in luxury liveaboard safaris, the fleet is designed to bring you directly to the most significant reefs, walls, and wrecks in the region. Whether you are looking for the deep walls of the Brothers or the historic wrecks of Abu Nuhas, their itineraries are built around the best of the Red Sea's marine environments.

The team is composed of experienced professionals selected for their deep knowledge of local dive sites and maritime operations. All crew members are STCW trained, ensuring high standards of safety and professionalism throughout your journey.

As a BSAC affiliated centre, the M/Y Whirlwind is specifically equipped to host divers following the British Sub-Aqua Club curriculum. The team is multilingual, with English, Arabic, and German spoken on board to assist international divers.

The M/Y Whirlwind serves as a dedicated BSAC training hub, offering courses ranging from basic levels up to Dive Leader. This makes it an ideal choice for divers wanting to combine a liveaboard holiday with formal progression.

Other available certifications include Advanced Open Water Diver, Enriched Air Nitrox, and the Deep Diver Specialty course. For those looking to move into more advanced territory, technical instructors are available on request.

The M/Y Whirlwind is a liveaboard catering to 20 divers, operating primarily in the Northern Red Sea. As a BSAC training centre, it provides a stable platform for those looking to progress through their certifications while at sea.

The fleet also includes the M/V Typhoon and M/V Monsoon, both accommodating 24 passengers for routes in Egypt and Saudi Arabia. For those exploring the North and South routes, the M/V Mistral carries 20 divers. The M/V Cyclone Explorer is also part of the fleet, joining the operations from 2025.

Full equipment hire is available on board, allowing you to travel light. For those who prefer to bring their own kit, the vessels are equipped to handle standard dive requirements, including Nitrox availability for enriched air diving.

Technical divers can request instructors on board to support more advanced profiles. Safety is a priority, with all vessels evaluated by Maritime Survey International (MSI) to ensure they meet rigorous international standards.

The Red Sea provides a massive variety of life, from large pelagics to intricate reef inhabitants. You will frequently encounter hammerhead sharks, oceanic whitetip sharks, and grey reef sharks, alongside eagle rays and manta rays. Large schools of tuna, barracuda, and jackfish are common in the open water.

On the reefs, the scenery is defined by hard corals, soft corals, and large gorgonian fans. You can find Napoleon wrasse, various species of turtles, and large groupers sheltering among the coral heads and crevices.

For those interested in macro life, the sites offer plenty of interest including octopus, moray eels, and various species of shrimp. Look closely for Spanish dancers, nudibranchs, and scorpionfish tucked into the reef structure.

Diving in the Red Sea can involve varying conditions depending on the specific site. The Brother Islands, Daedalus, and Elphinstone are known for strong currents which are often ideal for drift diving.

While the steel-hulled vessels in the fleet provide stability, sea conditions can occasionally be agitated. Water temperatures typically range between 23°C and 28°C.
