Atlantis Dumaguete Resort is situated in Dauin, the epicentre of the diving scene in the Dumaguete region of the Philippines. Set against a backdrop of lush tropical gardens, the resort is positioned just minutes away from over 20 local dive sites, many of which are strictly protected marine sanctuaries. The area is famous for its black volcanic sand, which provides the perfect habitat for some of the most sought-after macro species in the archipelago.

Beyond the immediate local sites, the resort serves as a base for excursions to the highly successful conservation area of Apo Island and the whale shark encounters in Oslob. For those looking to travel further afield, the resort also operates the Adventurer and Infiniti liveaboards, exploring various remote regions of the Philippines.

The dive team is composed of professional, highly attentive guides who are widely recognised as some of the best spotters in the Philippines. Their expertise is particularly valuable for divers looking to find specific, small-scale macro life in the complex environments of the local reefs.

The centre provides instruction for all levels, from those taking their first breaths underwater to technical divers. For families, there are dedicated programmes including a Try Scuba option for children who are not yet diving.

The training programme covers a wide spectrum of diving disciplines. You can undertake foundational training or specialise through courses such as Nitrox and Underwater Photography. The centre also offers Naturalist programmes for those looking to deepen their understanding of the local ecosystem.

Technical diving is well-supported on-site, catering to those utilising rebreather technology.

The resort operates boat-based excursions, offering up to five guided dives per day. These trips cover the local protected sanctuaries and extended trips to nearby islands like Apo Island. Onboard, you will find water and snacks provided to keep you replenished between dives.

The shore-based facilities are designed to support serious divers and underwater photographers alike. There is a dedicated, spacious, and air-conditioned photography room equipped with 21 individual lockers, a 14-metre long workspace, air guns, and a 42-inch HD flat screen for reviewing your captures. The facility also provides both 220V and 110V power access.

For those looking to expand their technical repertoire, the centre is equipped to support Nitrox and rebreather diving. A large, non-chlorinated freshwater pool is available on-site, featuring a shallow area and a 3-metre deep section, sheltered by trees for a relaxed atmosphere.

The local marine life is a specialist's dream, particularly for those interested in macro photography. The volcanic sands of Dauin host a staggering array of cephalopods, including the mimic octopus, wonderpus, blue-ringed octopus, and flamboyant cuttlefish. You will also find various species of octopus, such as the ocellated octopus, and diverse nudibranchs.

Small-scale life is abundant, with frogfish, Ambon scorpionfish, and Bobbit worms inhabiting the reef and sandy areas. The biodiversity extends to a wide variety of crustaceans and other unique organisms like the flamboyant cuttlefish.

On the larger scale, the reefs are home to numerous sea turtles and a wealth of hard and soft corals. In the wider region, you may encounter whale sharks (Rhincodon typus) during seasonal excursions.

Diving in the area is supported by the presence of numerous marine protected areas where fishing and navigation are prohibited, ensuring healthy reef ecosystems. Most local sites are accessible via short boat trips from the resort.
