Epic Dive

Epic Dive is situated in the Danao area of Panglao Island, Bohol, within the Philippines. This location provides easy access to the varied marine environments that define the region, from shallow reef flats to deeper offshore sites.

The centre operates as a hub for both scuba diving and freediving enthusiasts. Whether you are looking to start your training or are seeking guided exploration of the local underwater topography, the facility is positioned to serve a wide range of diver objectives.

The centre provides a structured training environment for divers at every stage of their progression. Their curriculum covers the standard progression from initial certifications through to professional development.

Instructional services include everything from entry-level courses to the Divemaster programme. For those interested in breath-hold diving, they also offer a dedicated range of freediving courses including Basic, Freediver, and Advanced levels.

The training catalogue is extensive, covering all major scuba diving milestones. You can work through your Open Water Diver and Advanced Open Water Diver certifications, or progress towards more advanced qualifications like the Rescue Diver course.

For divers looking to move into professional waters, the centre offers the Divemaster programme and various specialty courses. Freediving is also a core part of their offering, with specific training paths for Basic, Freediver, and Advanced breath-hold disciplines.

The centre is equipped to support divers with various requirements, offering equipment hire for those not travelling with their own kit. This includes essential items such as wetsuits, masks, fins, and regulators.

For night diving or low-light exploration, torches are available for rent. The facility is set up to manage the logistics of local dive trips and training sessions from their base in Purok 2, Danao.

The local waters are home to a vast array of reef fish, including various species of Wrasse (Labridae), Butterflyfish (Chaetodon), and colourful reef fish. You will often see schools of Fusilier (Caesio) and Anthias (Anthias) moving through the water column, alongside larger residents like the Napoleon wrasse (Cheilinus undulatus) and various Grouper (Epinephelus) species.

In the open water or near reef edges, larger pelagics and migratory species can be encountered. This includes various Jacks (Carangidae), Tuna (Thunnus), and Great barracuda (Sphyraena barracuda). It is also possible to see spotted eagle rays, Manta ray (Mobula alfredi), and occasionally even a Whale shark (Rhincodon typus).

The macro life is particularly diverse for those interested in smaller organisms. You can find various colourful nudibranchs, including Nudibranch (Chromodoris willani), as well as Ghost pipefish (Solenostomidae), Pygmy seahorse (Hippocampus bargibanti), and several types of Frogfish (Antennarius). Look closely for shrimp (Caridea), pipefish, and various scorpionfish tucked into the reef structure.

The seabed and reef architecture are built upon a foundation of hard corals and soft corals, with Sea fan (Gorgoniidae) providing significant structure. These habitats support a wide range of life, from clownfish and rabbitfish to sea snakes (Hydrophiinae) and various species of turtles, including the Hawksbill turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata) and Green sea turtle (Chelonia mydas).
