Sierra Madre Divers is a PADI 5 Star dive centre situated on Panglao Island in the Philippines. Positioned near the bustling Alona Beach area, it serves as a base for exploring the varied underwater topographies of the Bohol region, from shallow reef flats to dramatic vertical walls.

Large schools of bighead jacks (Carangidae) often form silver tornadoes near the walls, while various species of snapper and surgeonfish (Acanthuridae) patrol the coral.

For those seeking larger animals, Pamilacan is a significant site for pelagics. Depending on the season, you may encounter Manta ray (Mobula alfredi), dolphins (Delphinidae), or even the occasional whale shark (Rhincodon typus) between November and May.

Macro enthusiasts will find plenty to explore in the crevices and seagrass meadows, especially around the Anda reefs. Look for pygmy seahorse (Hippocampus bargibanti), colourful nudibranchs, flamboyant cuttlefish, blue-ringed octopus, and various species of shrimp (Caridea) and skeleton shrimp.

The underwater scenery is defined by a rich tapestry of hard corals, soft corals, sea fans (Gorgoniidae), and massive barrel sponges, providing a complex habitat for frogfish (Antennarius), moray eels (Muraenidae), and various species of wrasse (Labridae).

Diving conditions in the region vary significantly by location. Balicasag typically experiences moderate currents, while Pamilacan is known for strong and unpredictable ocean currents that require advanced buoyancy control.

The Amihan season, occurring between November and May, generally brings better surface conditions and is the primary time to encounter whale sharks due to increased plankton levels.
