Deep Dive Center

Deep Dive Center, also known as Deep Koh Tao, is situated in the Koh Tao Montra Resort and Spa, providing a seamless transition from your accommodation to the water. The centre is positioned to serve both those looking to complete their initial PADI certifications and experienced divers seeking advanced specialties or professional training.

Daily boat trips are organised for morning and afternoon sessions, with regular night diving available every second evening. The location is easily accessible from Samui, Chumpon, or Surat Thani via ferry, with transport packages often arranged from Bangkok to simplify your journey to the island.

The team is composed of experienced instructors who conduct training in both English and Thai. Whether you are starting your journey with a Discover Scuba Diving programme or working towards your Divemaster certification, the staff focuses on providing high-end training standards.

Safety and instruction are managed with a maximum ratio of four divers per guide. This ensures close supervision during training and more personalised attention during fun dives or technical specialties.

As a PADI affiliated centre, the range of courses covers the entire spectrum of diver development. Beginners can start with Discover Scuba Diving or the PADI Open Water Diver course, while those looking to progress can enrol in the Advanced Open Water Diver programme.

For divers looking to specialise, the centre offers the PADI Deep Diver Specialty, PADI Wreck Diver, and PADI Nitrox (Enriched Air) Specialty. More advanced training includes the PADI Rescue Diver and PADI Divemaster courses, as well as EFR (Emergency First Response) training. Freediving courses are also available for those interested in breath-hold diving.

The centre operates excellent dive boats that facilitate daily excursions to the various reefs and pinnacles surrounding the island. These trips include departures for morning and afternoon sessions, as well as dedicated night dive outings.

For those visiting from Koh Samui, the centre organises day trips featuring two dives per day. Specific excursions, such as the trip to Sail Rock, include lunch and all necessary equipment and cylinders on board.

Full equipment hire is available for all divers, covering everything from wetsuits to fins. The only item you need to provide is your own dive computer, though these can be hired daily if required.

Nitrox is available for use, allowing you to extend your no-decompression limits on multi-dive days. The centre's facilities include a high-quality training pool at the resort, which is ideal for skill practice and course work.

The waters around Koh Tao are home to a diverse array of reef fish, including parrotfish, batfish, sergeant majors, and various species of snapper. You will often see schools of fusiliers, trevallies, and barracudas, including large schools of chevron barracudas and yellowtail barracudas. Common sightings include triggerfish, damselfish, and rabbitfish moving across the reef.

For those watching the larger pelagics, the area offers the chance to see whale sharks, reef sharks, and blacktip reef sharks. You may also encounter various rays, such as blue-spotted stingrays and southern stingrays, as well as eagle rays.

The macro life is particularly rewarding for observant divers. Look closely for nudibranchs, various species of shrimp, crabs, and octopuses. You might also find sea anemones, garden eels, and unusual critters tucked into the reef structure.

The seabed is a rich habitat of hard and soft corals, including staghorn corals, sea fans, and various sponges. These structures support a wide range of life, from colourful anemones to many small crustaceans and molluscs.

The area is accessible year-round, with March often noted as an excellent month for diving. The centre provides morning, afternoon, and night diving options to suit your schedule.

Local dive sites vary in difficulty, with some locations like Sail Rock and Chumpon Pinnacle being classed as advanced due to potential currents or depth.
