Plongée Tek Marseille sits at the Port de la Pointe Rouge, placing you immediately at the edge of the Parc National des Calanques. The centre has established itself as a specialist hub for technical divers, bridging the gap between standard recreational diving and advanced exploration. Affiliated with both SSI and FFESSM, the centre provides internationally recognised certifications that allow you to dive globally. The training programmes are structured to accommodate a wide spectrum of experience, from those taking their first breaths underwater to professionals working towards instructor status.

The team manages a diverse range of specialisations, including deep diving, sidemount, and technical gas blending. Their expertise extends into the professional sector, offering courses for those looking to enter the diving industry as cadres or instructors.

The training catalogue covers the entire diving spectrum. Beginners can start with the Open Water Diver course or the FFESSM Niveau 1, while those looking to advance can pursue the SSI Advanced Adventurer or move through the FFESSM Niveau 2 and Niveau 3 levels.

Technical training is a core pillar of the centre. You can specialise in Nitrox, Deep diving, Sidemount, and Wreck exploration, or progress into advanced rebreather training. The centre also offers specific rebreather initiation sessions for those transitioning from open circuit.

They also serve as a dedicated DEMO-CENTER for Shearwater, Divelabs, Avatar, and DiverTug, and are a distributor for rebreather brands including rEvo, JJ-CCR, Inspiration AP-Diving, and Shark.

The marine life around Marseille is diverse, with the rocky reefs and gorgonian sea fans providing a rich habitat. You will frequently encounter schools of fish including wrasses, Salema porgy (Sarpa salpa), Damselfish (Chromis chromis), and various sea bream (Sparidae). Larger predators such as Groupers (Epinephelus), Dusky grouper (Epinephelus marginatus), and Moray eel (Muraenidae) are often found patrolling the crevices.

In the more sheltered areas and among the sponges, the macro life is exceptional. Divers can find Octopus (Octopus vulgaris), Cuttlefish, and various species of Scorpionfish (Scorpaenidae). The seabed is also home to many crustaceans, including Spiny lobster (Palinuridae) and various types of shrimp.

The scenery is defined by spectacular fixed life, including red coral and various gorgonian sea fans. These structures, alongside sponges and various anemones, create a complex and colourful landscape for both recreational and technical exploration.

Diving in the area is best enjoyed from April to October, with September often cited as the most favourable month. While the waters are generally manageable, strong Mistral winds can occasionally lead to the postponement of boat trips.

In the shallower areas used for introductory dives, currents are typically faible. For deeper explorations, divers should be prepared for the varied conditions found within the Calanques.
