École de Plongée Sétoise

École de Plongée Sétoise is situated in the Languedoc-Roussillon region, positioned between the Mediterranean coast and the Étang de Thau. The centre is located within a marina at the entrance to the Port des Quilles, just a short distance from Sète and Montpellier.

This location allows for a diverse range of diving environments. You can choose between the saltwater sites of the coast or the calmer, shallower waters of the lagoon, which is particularly rich in phytoplankton and offers unique observation opportunities.

The centre is managed by Olivier and Arnaud, former EPS instructors, who took over operations in April 2025. Their background in professional instruction brings a structured approach to the training offered on-site.

In addition to standard scuba courses, the team introduces new activities including static and dynamic apnea, as well as dedicated marine biology lessons. The centre is affiliated with the FFESSM, ensuring a recognised framework for all training and diving activities.

The centre provides a complete range of FFESSM training, from Niveau 1 through to Niveau 3. They also offer specialised programmes for younger divers through their Junior training modules.

Beyond standard scuba certification, the centre offers instruction in apnea and snorkeling. For those interested in the science of the underwater world, they also provide marine biology courses to deepen your understanding of the local ecosystem.

The centre operates an 11-metre rigid boat for trips out to the sea. This vessel allows you to reach the various rocky plateaus and wreck sites located off the coast of Sète.

The shore-based facilities include a warm welcoming area equipped with showers for rinsing off after a dive. For those needing to top up their air, the centre operates a high-capacity filling station capable of 16m3/h.

Full kit hire is available for those not travelling with their own equipment. The inventory includes a wide selection of one-piece wetsuits to suit various morphologies, as well as regulators, BCDs, fins, masks, and snorkels. When you book a Niveau 1 course, the necessary equipment is included in the training package.

The rocky reefs and plateaus are home to a variety of larger species. You will frequently encounter moray eels, scorpionfish, and various species of sea bream and salema porgy. Schools of sardines and daurade often move through the area, providing plenty of action for watching divers.

In the crevices and under ledges, the macro life is abundant. Look for octopus, various species of crab, and lobster. You can also find nudibranch (Chromodoris willani) and several types of anemones colonising the rocks.

The sandy areas and seagrass meadows support a different range of life, including torpedo rays and various crustaceans. In the lagoon, the rich phytoplankton supports a unique ecosystem where you might spot a Seahorse (Hippocampus kuda).

Diving in the area is split between the Mediterranean and the Étang de Thau. The lagoon offers very calm, shallow conditions, while the sea sites can be subject to the typical swell and currents of the Mediterranean coast.
