FLUID Tahiti - Diving Center

Established in 2002, Fluid Tahiti has become a mainstay for diving in French Polynesia. Situated directly facing the pontoon at Marina Taina in Punaauia, the centre provides easy access to the local marine environments, ranging from shallow lagoon reefs to deeper oceanic drop-offs.

The centre is built on a foundation of professional expertise, offering both international SSI certifications and national French qualifications. The team is composed of seven professional instructors, many of whom hold DEJEPS qualifications alongside their SSI certifications. This depth of experience ensures that both recreational and more advanced training needs are met with technical precision.

To maintain safety and individual attention, the centre operates with a ratio of two divers per guide. The staff is multilingual, capable of providing instruction and guidance in French, English, Spanish, and German.

The centre offers a comprehensive range of training through SSI and CMAS/FFESSM frameworks. Beginners can start with Try Scuba, Basic Diver, or Scuba Diver programmes, progressing through to Open Water Diver and Advanced Open Water certifications.

For those looking to specialise, advanced courses include Deep Diving, Stress & Rescue, and Nitrox. The centre also provides training for more professional paths, such as the Dive Master course, as well as local Permis côtier certifications.

The fleet consists of three specialised vessels to suit different dive profiles. The Zebullons is a 33-foot semi-rigid designed for efficient transit to dive sites, while the Zebubbles is a 30-foot boat providing a stable platform for excursions. For smaller groups or specific requirements, the Ze Boat, a 21-foot vessel, is also available.

These boats can accommodate up to 20 people depending on the excursion type. On full-day trips for groups of four or more, lunch is provided on board, and night dives are accompanied by a house cocktail. Nitrox is available on board for those requiring extended bottom times.

The shore-based facilities include a dedicated classroom for theory work and a boutique. For gas preparation, the centre uses Bauer compressors to ensure reliable fills for your cylinders.

Full equipment hire is available on-site, covering everything from regulators and BCDs to masks and fins. This makes it a convenient base for divers travelling without their own kit.

The marine life in this area is incredibly diverse, with the drop-offs and reefs hosting a wide array of species. You will regularly encounter various sharks, including grey reef sharks, blacktip reef sharks, whitetip reef sharks, lemon sharks, nurse sharks, and tiger sharks. Green turtles and hawksbill turtles are also common sights across the different sites.

In the reef environments, look for angelfish, clownfish, moray eels, groupers, and various species of snapper and red mullet. The seabed is home to leopard rays and stingrays, while the corals provide a vibrant backdrop of sea fans and coral roses.

Macro life enthusiasts can find nudibranchs and various crustaceans tucked into the reef structure. The area is also known for sightings of dolphins and, seasonally, humpback whales from August to November.
