Fluid Plongée Tahiti is an established diving centre situated at Marina Taina in Punaauia. Since its founding in 2002, the centre has focused on providing professional instruction and guided excursions throughout the French Polynesian waters.

The centre is well-positioned for easy access to the sea, with its fleet of boats moored directly at the pier. This allows for efficient departures to a variety of local dive sites, ranging from shallow reef flats to deeper offshore locations.

The team consists of 8 instructors dedicated to maintaining high standards of safety and environmental respect. They provide instruction in French, English, German, and Spanish, making the centre accessible to an international community of divers.

Safety is managed through a strict diver-to-guide ratio, with a maximum of 2 divers per guide. This ensures personalised attention during both training courses and exploration dives.

The centre provides a full spectrum of training through SSI, FFESSM, and CMAS affiliations. For those new to the water, they offer Try Scuba, Scuba Diver, and Open Water Diver courses.

Advanced training is extensive, covering Advanced Open Water Diver, Deep Diver, Navigation, Perfect Buoyancy, and Night Diver specialties. The curriculum also includes professional-level training such as Divemaster and emergency response courses like React Right and RIFAP.

The centre operates 3 semi-rigid boats with varying capacities, including vessels that can accommodate up to 20 people. These boats are used for a variety of excursions, including day trips, night dives, and sunset cruises.

On full-day dive adventures, the boats are equipped to provide snacks, refreshments, tea, fruit juice, cookies, and lunch. Nitrox is available on board for those requiring enriched air for their dives.

The shore-based facilities include a dedicated shop, a reception area, and a classroom for theoretical training. There is also a patio area specifically designed for gearing up before departures.

For gas management, the centre is equipped with 2 BAUER compressors to ensure reliable cylinder filling. Nitrox is available for divers looking to extend their bottom time or manage nitrogen loading.

The local marine life is diverse, with reef fish such as Butterflyfish (Chaetodon), Damselfish (Pomacentridae), Wrasse (Labridae), Parrotfish (Calotomus), Snapper (Lutjanus), and Grouper (Epinephelus) inhabiting the coral formations. You will also encounter Lionfish (Pterois volitans), Moray eel (Muraenidae), and various species of rays, including stingrays and leopard rays.

Larger species are frequently seen, including Grey reef shark (Carcharhinus amblyrhynchos), Whitetip reef shark (Triaenodon obesus), and various other sharks such as blacktip, lemon, and nurse sharks. You may also spot tuna (Thunnus), trevally, and Great barracuda (Sphyraena barracuda).

From August to November, the waters host seasonal visitors, including Humpback whales and other cetaceans. This period offers a unique opportunity to observe these large mammals in the wild.

For those interested in smaller details, the area hosts nudibranchs and a variety of colourful reef inhabitants including angelfish and clownfish.

The centre operates seven days a week, providing regular access to the surrounding dive sites. Divers should be aware of the seasonal presence of cetaceans between August and November.
