Jump Cozumel

Located in Cozumel, Mexico, Jump Cozumel provides access to one of the most significant coral reef systems in the world. Much of the island is protected within a National Marine Park, offering a vast expanse of healthy reef structures, deep pinnacles, and intricate swim-throughs.

The centre focuses on delivering a bespoke experience, moving away from the standard large-group itineraries to ensure you see the island's best sites. Whether you are looking for the shallow reef flats or the dramatic walls, the trips are designed to be flexible and personal.

The team is led by highly experienced professionals, including Almendra, an SSI Assistant Instructor Trainer and PADI IDC Staff instructor with over 4,600 dives. She is qualified to teach 12 different specialties and holds EFR Instructor Trainer status.

Andrés serves as a PADI Staff Instructor and is Full Cave Certified, bringing over 5,000 dives of experience to the team. The crew also includes Jose Humberto “Yiyo”, a certified Rescue Diver and snorkeling guide. All staff members hold the necessary certifications to operate within the local Marine Park.

Jump Cozumel offers a comprehensive range of training through both PADI and SSI affiliations. Beginners can start with Discover Scuba Diving or the Open Water Diver course, with the option for an Open Water Referral if you are continuing your training elsewhere.

For more advanced divers, the centre provides Advanced Open Water, Deep Diving, and Nitrox certifications. They also offer specialised training in Drift Diving, Wreck Diving, and Underwater Photography. Professional paths are available through Divemaster and EFR Instructor Trainer programmes, with Diver Stress and Rescue available upon request.

The centre utilises a variety of boats and catamarans to reach the dive sites. These vessels are used for everything from private tours of El Cielo to standard reef excursions.

On board, you will find refreshments including water, fruit, snacks, and various beverages. For full-day trips, the catering includes items such as guacamole, tuna salad, and bread. Nitrox is available for use on the boats.

Full equipment hire is available on-site for divers who prefer not to travel with their own kit. This includes all the necessary components for a complete dive setup.

Nitrox is provided for divers looking to extend their bottom time. The centre also manages the logistics for all training courses, including the provision of all required equipment and cylinders.

The reefs are home to a diverse array of large pelagics and schooling fish. You can regularly encounter Great barracuda (Sphyraena barracuda), various species of sharks including Blacktip reef shark (Carcharhinus melanopterus) and Caribbean reef sharks, as well as eagle rays and Southern stingray (Hypanus americanus).

In the reef structures, look for a variety of colourful species such as Parrotfish (Calotomus), Angelfish (Pomacanthidae), and various species of Grouper (Epinephelus). You will also see many types of snapper, jacks (Carangidae), and large schools of fish moving through the water column.

The hard coral architecture is spectacular, featuring brain corals, sea fans (Gorgoniidae), and various sponges. These structures provide a home for many smaller inhabitants, including colourful reef fish and various species of crabs.

For those interested in macro life, the area hosts a variety of interesting creatures. You can find seahorses (Hippocampus kuda), various species of octopus (Octopus vulgaris), moray eels (Muraenidae), and scorpionfish (Scorpaenidae). Look closely at the reef for nudibranchs and various species of shrimp.

The diving in Cozumel is often characterised by drift diving, where currents carry you along the reef. The centre's knowledge of the island allows them to select sites that suit your comfort level regarding water movement.

Many of the sites are located within the protected Marine Park, ensuring a stable environment for the reef systems. The team's experience allows them to navigate the different sections of the island, from the north to the south, to find the best conditions for your specific dive profile.
