Cocotinos Sekotong Lombok is a 20-room resort on the coast of Sekotong, designed around the shape of a traditional Indonesian village. Tropical gardens, a private beach area and a freshwater pool give you plenty of room to slow down without turning the place into a sprawling hotel complex.

English is spoken by the hotel team, alongside Indonesian, so you can handle the useful things easily: arrival times, meals, transport and the occasional request for something cold to drink. The atmosphere is geared towards a few quiet days by the sea, with enough on site to keep a diving couple occupied when the surface interval becomes a full afternoon.

You are in Sekotong, on Lombok, directly beside the beach. The resort faces Sekotong Bay and the islands of Gili Nanggu, Gili Tangkong and Gili Sudak, so the geography is distinctly coastal rather than town-based. Sekotong Beach is about 300 feet away, while Elak Elak Beach is around 1.5 miles from the resort.

The nearest named restaurants are close enough for a short drive rather than a casual stroll: Villa Yukie Restaurant is about 0.7 miles away, Rumah Makan Putri around 1.5 miles, and Coral Palm Restaurant roughly 2.5 miles. Gita Nada is about 1.7 miles away, and Gili Gede is around 5 miles away. In other words, you can explore the area, but the resort’s own restaurant will usually be the practical answer when you return hungry.

The room choice is mainly about how much space and privacy you want after a day in the water. The standard rooms give you a generous base for two, with air conditioning, a ceiling fan, a seating area, a desk, a refrigerator and an electric kettle. That refrigerator earns its keep when you come back hot, thirsty and no longer interested in making decisions. Extra-long beds are available, and en-suite bathrooms separate the shower and toilet areas.

For a couple who wants the room itself to be part of the holiday, the One-Bedroom Villa with Private Pool is the obvious step up. The Beach Front Villa goes further again, with direct coastal positioning and two bathrooms, making it the more spacious choice when you want to stay close to the sand rather than simply see it from a distance.

Rooms include both air conditioning and a fan, so you can cool down properly or keep the air moving without having the room run like a small aircraft. Soundproof rooms are available, while daily housekeeping, a safety deposit box, television and Wi-Fi cover the less romantic but highly practical side of sleeping well. A packed lunch can also be arranged for days when your plans take you away from the dining room.

The main dining address is The Warung, an open-air restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. Its cooking focuses on Indonesian dishes made with fresh local ingredients, which gives the evening meal a proper sense of place rather than treating local food as a decorative footnote. You can also request vegetarian dishes.

Breakfast is included and served as a buffet from 7:00 to 10:00, with continental, Asian and American choices. That timing is useful if your morning starts early, although the practical answer for a particularly ambitious diving day is the packed lunch option. Breakfast in your room is also available when you would rather begin the day quietly.

There is one bar: the Pool Bar, set beside the main pool and built around cocktails. It is the natural landing point for the post-dive drink, while the on-site coffee house, minibar and tea and coffee facilities cover the less celebratory moments. The resort also offers wine and champagne, special-diet menus on request, themed dinner nights and a barbecue option.

The main pool is outdoors, with a swim-up bar and pool and beach towels available. Sun loungers, beach chairs, umbrellas and a white-sand beach give you the equipment required for a day of doing very little, which is sometimes the most demanding activity on a diving holiday. A private beach area, garden, terrace and picnic area add a few alternative places to sit when you have exhausted your usual chair.

Cocotinos Spa offers massages, facials, manicures and pedicures, with indoor and outdoor massage settings. Couples can book a treatment together, or you can opt for a foot, back, neck, head or full-body massage when your legs have had enough of carrying you around. There is also a spa lounge and relaxation area, plus foot baths and wellness packages.

If you still have energy to spend, you can take a beach yoga class, hire a bicycle, join a walking or cycling outing, or book a cooking class and a local cultural excursion. Kayaking, paddleboarding, snorkelling, canoeing and boat trips are available for days when you want to stay on the water without putting a tank on your back. Hiking, fishing, wildlife observation and excursions around Lombok, including trips towards Mount Rinjani, round out the options.

Lombok International Airport is around 28 miles away by road, with a scenic journey of about 75 minutes. An airport shuttle is available through the resort, either privately or as a shared service depending on the arrangement, and you should book it with the hotel. Lembar Harbour is about a 30-minute drive away. Car hire, a tour desk, concierge support and currency exchange are available on site, while free private parking is provided if you arrive by car.

Check-in starts at 14:00 and check-out runs until 12:00. You will need photo identification and a payment card at arrival, and the resort asks you to share your expected arrival time.
