Located at Boracay Station 1, Boracay Newwave has been a fixture of the local diving community since 2003. This PADI 5 Star centre was founded by divers for divers, focusing on high-quality instruction and a personalised approach to every outing.

The centre provides access to a diverse range of underwater environments, from shallow coral gardens and sloping reefs to dramatic walls and deep wrecks. Whether you are looking to begin your training or advance through professional levels, the setting allows for a varied diving programme.

The team at Boracay Newwave is highly experienced, having delivered over 4,000 certifications since opening. They operate as the only centre on Boracay capable of providing both scuba and freediving instructor training, making it a key hub for professional development.

Instruction is delivered in small, personalised groups to ensure safety and a high standard of education. The staff is multilingual, capable of communicating in nine different languages, which facilitates smooth training and guided dives for an international clientele.

Training at Boracay Newwave covers the entire PADI spectrum. Beginners can start with Discover Scuba Diving or the Bubblemaker programme, progressing through the Open Water Diver and Advanced Open Water Diver courses.

For those looking to specialise, the centre offers several PADI specialty courses, including Nitrox, Wreck Diver, Deep Diver, Night Diver, Drift Diver, and Peak Performance Buoyancy, as well as Underwater Photography. Professional divers can pursue the Divemaster and Instructor Development Course (IDC) pathways here.

The centre provides a full range of rental kit for divers, including regulators, wetsuits, and fins. For those planning night dives, torches are available to ensure you can see the details of the reef and wrecks after dark.

Nitrox is available on-site for divers looking to extend their bottom times, particularly on deeper sites like the Camia II wreck. The centre emphasises the use of well-maintained, modern equipment and follows strict PADI safety and equipment verification procedures.

The reefs around Boracay are home to a vast array of tropical reef fish. You will regularly encounter schools of Parrotfish (Calotomus), Wrasse (Labridae), Damselfish, and various species of Snappers. Look for Butterflyfish (Chaetodon), Angelfish (Pomacanthidae), and colourful Surgeonfish near the coral formations.

Larger animals frequently visit the deeper walls and drop-offs. Whitetip reef shark (Triaenodon obesus) and various pelagics, including Dogtooth tuna (Gymnosarda unicolor) and Jack (Carangidae), are part of the local ecosystem. You may also spot Green sea turtles (Cheloniidae) grazing on the shallower reef slopes.

The hard and soft coral architecture provides the foundation for this habitat, with large coral heads, staghorn coral, and various Soft coral (Alcyonacea) species decorating the seabed. Sea anemone (Actiniaria) colonies are also common, often hosting Clownfish (Amphiprion).

For those interested in macro life, the wrecks and reef crevices offer plenty to see. Keep an eye out for Cuttlefish (Sepiidae), Octopus (Octopus vulgaris), and various species of shrimp (Caridea). The area is also known for its diverse range of reef fish and smaller inhabitants hiding within the coral structures.

Diving conditions vary significantly depending on the site selected. Some locations, such as Diniwid and Coral Garden, offer low currents and shallow depths, making them suitable for beginners. In contrast, sites like Yapak and Punta Bunga are known for strong currents and deeper water, requiring more experienced divers.

Night diving is a standard part of the local diving programme, allowing you to see the reef transform after dark.
