Moorea Fun Dive

Located on the North-West coast of Moorea at PK 27.6, Moorea Fun Dive sits directly on a white sand beach. Unlike many local operations, this is an independent centre not attached to a resort, offering a more direct connection to the island's coastline.

The centre is ideally positioned for accessing the outer reef slope, the lagoon passes, and the interior lagoon itself. Most dive sites are reached within a 15-minute boat ride, making it an efficient base for both morning and afternoon sessions.

The team is led by managers Vanessa and Jérôme, supported by Mathieu and a third instructor. This small, dedicated group maintains a professional yet warm atmosphere for all divers.

Instruction is available in both English and French. The centre caters to a variety of needs, from introductory dives for beginners to advanced training and refresher courses for experienced divers.

A comprehensive range of training is available through various systems. The centre offers PADI courses including Open Water Diver and Advanced Open Water Diver, alongside the French national certification system (Niveau 1, 2, and 3).

For divers looking to brush up on their skills, refresher courses are available. The centre also provides introductory dives for those looking to experience the underwater world for the first time.

The centre operates a 24-foot aluminium boat equipped with a canopy for shade. Powered by a Suzuki 300CV, the vessel is designed to carry a maximum of 11 divers.

The boat is moored in the lagoon directly in front of the centre, allowing for quick departures. During the trips, tea and biscuits are provided on board.

The centre provides full diving equipment for its clients. A dedicated welcome area is available on-site, featuring storage lockers, changing facilities, toilets, and showers.

For those arriving by car, there is private parking available at the centre. The facility also includes a small shop and a reception area to organise your dives.

The local waters are rich with large pelagics and reef residents. You can regularly encounter lemon sharks, Blacktip reef shark (Carcharhinus melanopterus), and nurse sharks (Ginglymostoma cirratum). Sea turtles are also a common sight throughout the area.

The reef is teeming with diverse fish species, including Napoleon wrasse (Cheilinus undulatus), rainbow runners, and bigeye trevally. You will often see schools of yellow perch, parrotfish (Calotomus), and various tropical fish navigating the coral gardens.

Macro life and smaller inhabitants add detail to the dives, with sightings of Javanese moray eels (Muraenidae), trumpetfish (Aulostomidae), and various shrimp (Caridea). Boxfish (Ostraciidae) and clownfish (Amphiprion) can be found amongst the anemones and coral structures.

The dive sites are characterised by very little current, making for manageable diving conditions. The terrain varies from sandy bottoms and coral gardens to steep canyon walls and reef passes.

Site selection is made on the morning of the dive to ensure the best possible conditions based on the local weather and sea state.
