Scuba Seraya Resort is a small beachfront dive resort in Tulamben, arranged around bungalows and villas in a tropical garden. The private beach, open-air dining and on-site pool make the resort easy to use between dives. You can return from the water, settle somewhere with a view, and let the rest of the day become pleasantly unstructured. That suits divers who want privacy, individual attention and a calm base rather than a long list of organised entertainment.

The resort sits directly beside the sea, with its own private beach area and views towards Muntig Bay and the mountain landscape. Tulamben Beach is about 0.8 miles away, while Amed Beach is about 3.1 miles away as the crow flies.

The surrounding area gives you a few straightforward options when you want to leave the resort. Warung Srimurti is about 0.4 miles away and Rika Restoran about 0.5 miles away; both are close enough for a short local outing rather than a major expedition. Tirta Gangga Water Palace is about 8 miles away in a straight line, or roughly 10 miles by road, and Ngurah Rai International Airport is about 42 miles away directly, with the road journey covering roughly 57 miles.

The accommodation is built around a small collection of bungalows and villas, with sea, pool, garden, mountain or courtyard views depending on the room. For two people, the sea-view options make the most of the setting, while the one-bedroom villa gives you a more self-contained feel and a balcony from which to take in the coast. After a dive, that range is practical: nobody has to negotiate a highly specialised menu while hungry enough to eat the regulator bag.

Breakfast is included and comes in continental, Asian and American styles. There is also a snack bar, coffee house and bar on site, giving you options for a quick drink or something less formal than a full meal. Wine and champagne are available, and room service lets you take food back to your accommodation when the idea of sitting at a table has lost its appeal.

The evening setting is one of the more distinctive details: open-air dining beside the beach, with the atmosphere changing once the light goes. You can also use the outdoor fireplace, picnic area and barbecue facilities, with the barbecue arranged separately from the standard restaurant service.

Scuba Seraya Dive & Resort, the hotel's own dive centre, affiliated with SSI. The integrated centre changes the shape of the day: you can finish breakfast and reach the dive operation without arranging a transfer. Guided and unguided shore dives, boat dives around Tulamben, and night or dawn dives are part of the operation.

The centre uses a purpose-built fast dive boat, offers nitrox and runs night diving, while its approach centres on individual attention, small classes and unhurried service. Easy beach entries keep the logistics pleasantly low-key.

From here, the local programme reaches sites including the Liberty Shipwreck, Coral Garden, the Drop Off and Seraya Secrets, with the wider Tulamben and Amed area also within reach. The house reef is directly in front of the resort.

Ngurah Rai International Airport is about 42 miles from the resort directly, with a road distance of roughly 57 miles. An airport shuttle is available and can be arranged with the resort, either privately or as a shared service. Car hire and public transport tickets are also available, while private parking is on site and does not require a reservation.

Check-in starts from 14:00 and check-out runs until 12:00. You need to let the resort know your expected arrival time in advance, which is particularly sensible when the transfer from the airport crosses much of Bali. Luggage storage, a tour desk and concierge service are useful around arrival and departure days.

Wi-Fi is free throughout the property, and rooms have air conditioning. Daily housekeeping, laundry, dry cleaning and ironing services cover the less glamorous parts of a dive trip, while packed lunches can be arranged for days when your schedule does not line up neatly with the restaurant. Children over one year are welcome, extra beds are available for guests aged eleven and over on request, and pets are not allowed. Cash is not accepted.
