Diving Seraya Secret commences with an easy entry directly from the beach, south of Tulamben. You will descend onto a gentle black volcanic sand slope, a distinctive terrain that foregrounds the intricate details of macro life. The dark sand acts as a natural backdrop, allowing often-cryptic residents to stand out, creating an ideal canvas for photographers. This site spans various dark volcanic sand bottoms, offering a complex and rewarding environment for those with a keen eye.

As you traverse the site, you will observe the sandy expanse punctuated by subtle ridges and isolated sponges, small corals, and white hydroids. These elements serve as natural camouflage and prime hunting grounds for a diverse array of fascinating creatures. This varied topography fosters the creation of numerous micro-habitats, each holding a unique spectacle waiting to be discovered, differing significantly from a uniform open sand patch.

A key feature of Seraya Secret is a notable cleaning station, located deeper on an underwater ridge. These natural service hubs are critical points of activity, attracting a variety of marine life. Here, smaller fish and crustaceans meticulously remove parasites from larger inhabitants, providing a dynamic glimpse into the marine ecosystem. This station can draw both the usual residents and occasional pelagic visitors, such as spotted eagle rays.

Seraya Secret is renowned for its diverse macro fauna. Among the star attractions, keep a vigilant lookout for the incredibly vibrant Harlequin shrimps, often found in pairs, their distinctive patterns a testament to patient observation. This site is also a haven for nudibranch enthusiasts, hosting numerous species that adorn the black sand and rocky outcrops in a kaleidoscope of colors and forms.

Beyond the captivating nudibranchs and Harlequin shrimps, the dive site hosts a collection of other elusive macro subjects. Thorny seahorses and common seahorses patiently cling to hydroids and sponges, blending seamlessly. You might spot delicate ghost pipefish, often mimicking wisps of seagrass or crinoids, alongside camouflaged frogfish, patiently awaiting prey. The sandy bottom also harbors pygmy seahorses, porcelain crabs, scorpionfish, lionfish, stonefish, and mimic octopuses, all masters of disguise.

While primarily a macro destination, Seraya Secret offers occasional encounters with larger animals, especially in its deeper sections. Spotted eagle rays are known to visit the cleaning station up to 30 metres. Although rarer, reports have included dolphins and even whale sharks in this zone. These encounters are not common, but they highlight the potential for unexpected sights that Bali's waters can deliver.
