Perception Plongée

Perception Plongée is located in Les Salins d’Hyères, operating from the private Portland port. The centre has established a strong reputation over 25 years, moving beyond standard recreational diving to become a key hub for technical exploration in the Var region.

The centre is defined by its specialised focus on rebreather technology and technical diving. Rather than catering to mass tourism, the approach is built around small groups and a highly personalised level of support, ensuring that every diver can focus on the exploration of the Mediterranean seabed.

The centre is led by an instructor with a background as a Navy mine clearance diver, bringing a high level of professionalism and safety to the technical side of the operation. This expertise extends to professional underwater works, including expertise in wreck photography and videography.

With two instructors on site, the team provides guidance in both French and English. The focus remains on demystifying technical diving, making complex systems like the rEvo rebreather accessible and calm for those looking to progress from open-circuit to CCR.

The course catalogue covers the full spectrum of diving, from initial Discover Scuba Diving (Baptême) through to professional levels. For those starting their journey, the centre offers Niveau 1 and Niveau 2 (Open Water and Deep Diver) certifications.

Technical training is a core pillar of the centre. They provide Nitrox and Nitrox Advanced courses, as well as specialised training for rebreather users, including rEvo hCCR training covering air deco, no-deco, and Trimix/diluent air configurations. They also offer training for air diluent usage.

The centre operates with a maximum capacity of 8 people per boat, ensuring a quiet and intimate atmosphere on the water. These trips are designed for extended bottom times, with dives typically lasting a minimum of 60 minutes.

Available dive profiles include night dives and exploration trips. The boat serves as a base for visiting the marine protected areas around the local islands and exploring the various wrecks scattered along the Côte d'Azur.

For technical divers, the centre provides on-site rental of the rEvo rebreather. This allows divers to experience closed-circuit technology without the logistical burden of transporting their own heavy kit.

Nitrox is available for divers looking to extend their no-decompression limits, and the centre is fully equipped to support Trimix diving for advanced technical profiles.

The diving area is characterised by the protected marine environments of the national parks. Divers should be prepared for the typical Mediterranean conditions when planning trips to the islands.
