La Bombona Diving Gili Trawangan

Located on the vibrant island of Gili Trawangan, La Bombona Diving is the newest addition to the La Bombona family. While the centre is a fresh presence in the Gili Islands, it is backed by over 12 years of experience from its founding roots in Koh Tao back in 2014.

The centre has been established with a clear philosophy: to provide a personalised, secure, and relaxed environment for every diver. By avoiding the high-volume, industrial approach often seen in popular diving hubs, they ensure that your time on the water remains focused on the marine environment and your own skill development.

The team at La Bombona is built around a commitment to high-quality instruction that goes beyond the basic requirements. For example, when training for an Open Water certification, they aim for a depth standard of 20 metres rather than the minimum 18 metres.

Instruction is delivered in English, following a model that emphasises small group sizes and attentive guidance. This ensures that whether you are a beginner or an experienced diver, you receive the specific support needed for a safe and rewarding experience.

Beyond the water, the team is actively involved in ocean conservation. They participate in regular beach clean-ups and maintain strict reef-friendly practices to ensure the local ecosystem remains healthy for future generations of divers.

The centre provides a comprehensive range of training programmes through PADI, covering every stage of a diver's progression. Beginners can start with the Try Dive or the Open Water Diver course, while those looking to advance can enrol in the Advanced (Explorer) programme.

The waters around Gili Trawangan are a haven for large marine life, with sea turtles being a constant presence on the reefs. You can regularly encounter Green sea turtle (Chelonia mydas) and Hawksbill turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata) navigating the coral gardens.

Pelagic visitors and sharks are also part of the local ecosystem. Divers may see blacktip reef sharks, Whitetip reef shark (Triaenodon obesus), and various other shark species patrolling the deeper sections. You might also spot eagle rays (Aetobatus), stingrays (Myliobatiformes), and blue spotted stingrays gliding across the sandy bottom.

The reef itself is teeming with colourful tropical reef fish. Schools of fusilier (Caesio) and various snapper species (Lutjanidae) move through the water alongside parrotfish (Calotomus), angelfish (Pomacanthidae), and surgeonfish (Acanthuridae). Look closely for the smaller inhabitants like damselfish, butterflyfish (Chaetodon), and anthias (Anthias) amongst the coral.

For those with an eye for macro life, the area offers incredible diversity. You can find various nudibranchs, seahorses (Hippocampus), and ghost pipefish (Solenostomidae) tucked into the reef. The seabed also hosts a variety of crustaceans, including shrimp (Caridea) and crabs (Brachyura), as well as octopus (Octopoda) and cuttlefish (Sepiidae) looking for cover.
