Bali Crystal Divers

Crystal Divers Bali is a long-established PADI 5 Star Career Development Centre situated in Sanur. As the first centre of its kind in Indonesia, it forms part of the global Crystal Divers Worldwide network.

From its base in Sanur, you can access some of the most diverse diving in the region, including short boat trips to the currents of Nusa Penida and shore dives at Tulamben. The centre has built a reputation for professional standards, having been recognised by PADI Asia-Pacific for its instructor training programmes.

The team is composed of experienced, insured PADI Divemasters and Instructors, including both local and international professionals. This mix ensures a high standard of guiding across the various dive sites around Bali.

For international divers, communication is straightforward as the team is multilingual. Instruction and guidance are available in English, Spanish, German, Dutch, Danish, and Indonesian.

Beyond standard recreational diving, the centre is heavily involved in marine conservation. They actively participate in PADI AWARE initiatives, focusing on shark conservation and coral reef protection.

The course catalogue is extensive, catering to everyone from those taking their first Discover Scuba Diving experience to professional candidates. You can work through the full PADI progression, including Open Water Diver, Advanced Open Water Diver, and Rescue Diver.

As a Career Development Centre, they specialise in professional training. This includes the Divemaster programme and the PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) to help you reach staff instructor status.

Specialist training is also available to refine your skills, such as PADI Deep Diver, Wreck Diver, Sidemount Diver, and Drift Diver. For those interested in the technical side, they offer Nitrox and rebreather training, alongside freediving courses.

The centre provides a full range of rental kit for those not travelling with their own equipment. All rental items are well-maintained to ensure reliability during your dives.

On-site facilities include a training pool, which is ideal for practicing skills or completing course requirements in a controlled environment. Nitrox is available for divers looking to extend their bottom times.

The waters around Bali are famous for large pelagics. You can encounter Manta ray (Mobula alfredi) at cleaning stations, as well as Mola Mola during the July to October period. Other large visitors include various sharks, such as Whitetip reef shark (Triaenodon obesus), and occasionally whale sharks (Rhincodon typus).

For those who prefer reef life, the walls and coral gardens are teeming with activity. You will see schools of tropical reef fish, including various Angelfish (Pomacanthidae), Surgeon fish, and Napoleon wrasse (Cheilinus undulatus). Large schools of Jack (Carangidae) and barracudas are also common.

Macro divers will find plenty to explore on the reef flats and wrecks. The area is rich in Nudibranch (Chromodoris willani), Pygmy seahorse (Hippocampus bargibanti), and various species of Ghost pipefish (Solenostomidae). You can also look for the Blue-ringed octopus, various species of shrimp, and Mantis shrimp.

Fixed life is abundant, with healthy populations of hard and soft corals, Sea fan (Gorgoniidae), and various Sponges (Porifera) providing the structure for this diverse ecosystem.

Diving conditions vary significantly depending on the location. Nusa Penida is known for strong and sometimes unpredictable currents, particularly at sites like Toya Pakeh, making it better suited for advanced divers.

The Sanur Reef can experience moderate to strong currents depending on the tide, with the best conditions often found at low tide. For the best visibility for macro photography, the period from April to October is generally preferred.
