During the months of July to October, the area becomes a specific destination for those seeking the Mola Mola.

The reef structures are built upon a foundation of diverse corals and sponges, providing a habitat for colourful species such as Angelfish (Pomacanthidae), Butterflyfish (Chaetodon), and various species of Parrotfish. You will also find many species of Wrasse, including the Napoleon wrasse (Cheilinus undulatus) and cleaner wrasse.

Macro enthusiasts will find plenty to observe among the reef flats and crevices. The area is noted for its Nudibranchs, various species of Octopus (Octopus vulgaris), and Seahorse (Hippocampus kuda). Look closely for smaller inhabitants such as Pygmy seahorse (Hippocampus bargibanti), various shrimps, and different types of pipefish and gobies (Gobiidae).

Other notable residents include sea turtles (Cheloniidae), various species of stingrays, and the orangutan crab. The presence of diverse life like the hammerhead or reef shark (Carcharhinus) and various species of eels (Anguilliformes) makes every dive unpredictable.

Diving in this region involves a variety of environments, ranging from calm reef flats to more demanding drift dives. Sites like Nusa Penida and Gili Tepekong are known for their currents, which are best suited for those with advanced experience.

Seasonal changes influence the presence of certain large species, particularly the Mola Mola, which are most frequently seen between July and October.
