Coral Diving School

The CTC Center for Marine Conservation is situated in Sanur, Denpasar, acting as a dedicated gateway to the biodiversity of the Coral Triangle. As the first facility of its kind in Indonesia, the centre focuses on the protection and restoration of the marine ecosystems that connect our oceans.

Established in 2010, the centre operates as an Indonesian non-profit foundation. It integrates marine science with community education, using art and immersive learning to support the management of marine protected areas across the region.

The centre is a government-certified training facility and an official partner of the Coral Triangle Initiative on Coral Reefs, Fisheries, and Food Security. Its mission extends beyond standard dive instruction to include large-scale reef and mangrove restoration projects.

Education is central to their operation, with programmes designed for everyone from professional marine scientists and entrepreneurs to families and students. The centre uses various methods to engage the community, including traditional Indonesian shadow puppetry and immersive educational tools like the 'SOS from the Deep' escape room.

The centre offers a range of training opportunities, serving as a hub for scientific diving and marine conservation education. While they provide standard instruction, their focus is heavily geared towards integrated learning that combines diving skills with environmental stewardship.

Training is supported by their specialised facilities, including the on-site pool, which is ideal for those looking to develop technical skills or participate in scientific diving programmes.

The centre is well-equipped for both training and scientific diving, featuring a purpose-built diving pool and dedicated training pavilions. These facilities are designed to support scientific diving training and specialised educational workshops.

On-site, divers can participate in active conservation through the 'Adopt a Coral' programme, which involves working with juvenile corals in nurseries. The centre also provides a space for learning through its 'Coral Wall' exhibition and various interactive marine conservation games.

The surrounding waters are a major spawning ground for tuna and home to several charismatic species. You can regularly encounter sea turtles, manta rays, and ocean sunfish in these nutrient-rich waters.

On the reefs, the biodiversity is immense, with a vast array of coral species and reef fish providing a constant source of interest. Large pelagics, including whales and tuna, are also known to frequent the area.

The ecosystem is a critical part of the Coral Triangle, hosting a significant percentage of the world's known coral and reef fish species.
