Orana Dive Center

Located in Sanur, Orana Dive Center is run by a collective of experienced PADI instructors, professional underwater photographers, and dedicated divers. They focus on delivering a curated experience, moving away from large, impersonal groups to ensure every trip is tailored to the specific needs of the divers on board.

The centre operates across the most significant diving regions of Bali, from the sheltered reefs of Sanur and Padangbai to the more challenging currents of Nusa Penida. This allows them to offer a diverse range of diving, from calm, shallow reef tops to dramatic walls and historic wrecks.

The team is composed of certified PADI Instructors and Divemasters who bring a professional approach to every outing. Because the team includes underwater photographers and content creators, there is a deep understanding of how to approach marine life and navigate different underwater environments.

Safety and individual attention are central to their operations, maintained through a strict guide-to-diver ratio of no more than four divers per guide. This ensures that whether you are a student or an experienced diver, you receive the necessary supervision and guidance for the specific conditions of the site.

The centre offers a comprehensive range of PADI certification courses. For those starting their journey, they provide Try Dives and the PADI Open Water Diver course, which can be arranged with accommodation included.

For more experienced divers looking to expand their skills, they offer the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course. They also cater to those looking for recreational diving through their Fun Dive programmes.

Orana Dive Center provides a full range of rental kit, featuring Scubapro equipment to ensure reliability and performance. This includes everything required for a complete dive setup, allowing you to travel light if you prefer.

The all-inclusive service model is designed to remove the logistical stress of diving. This includes door-to-door transport service, as well as the handling of entrance fees, parking fees, and porter fees, so you can focus entirely on your time underwater.

The region is famous for its large pelagics and seasonal visitors. Between July and October, the waters around Crystal Bay are a prime location to see the mola mola. You can also encounter Manta ray (Mobula alfredi) at Manta Point, alongside various sharks, including the Whitetip reef shark (Triaenodon obesus) and the Reef shark (Carcharhinus).

The reef systems are teeming with colourful life, including schools of Jack (Carangidae), bigeye trevally, and various species of angelfish (Pomacanthidae). You will frequently see sea turtles (Cheloniidae), rays (Batoidea), and diverse reef fish such as fusiliers, surgeonfish, and batfish.

For macro enthusiasts, the sites around Tulamben and Amed offer incredible biodiversity. Look closely for the Pygmy seahorse (Hippocampus bargibanti), Ornate ghost pipefish (Solenostomidae), and various nudibranchs (Chromodoris willani). The area is also home to the pink frogfish, mantis shrimp (Odontodactylus scyllarus), and the octopus (Octopus vulgaris).

The underwater landscape is enriched by a vast array of fixed life, including healthy hard coral gardens, Sea fan (Gorgoniidae), and various sponges (Porifera). These structures provide the essential habitat for the many crustaceans, such as lobster (Homaridae), and smaller inhabitants like gobies (Gobiidae) and cleaner wrasse.

Diving in Bali is best experienced during the dry season, from May to October. During this period, many of the eastern sites like Amed and Jemeluk Bay benefit from mild currents and good visibility.

The rainy season runs from November to April. While diving remains possible, particularly in sheltered locations like the Blue Lagoon in Padangbai or the Sanur Channel, conditions on more exposed coastlines can become choppier due to the swell.
