Bormes Plongee

Bormes Plongée has been operating since 2000, established as a dedicated diving hub in Bormes-les-Mimosas. The centre is positioned perfectly for accessing the protected waters of the Port-Cros National Park, providing a gateway to some of the most significant marine environments in France.

The centre holds multiple affiliations, including SSI, PADI, FFESSM, and CMAS, ensuring that both recreational and technical divers find their requirements met. As a 'France Qualité Tourisme' labellised centre, it maintains a professional standard while staying true to a respectful, environmentally conscious approach to diving.

The team is composed of 9 instructors and professionals dedicated to both training and exploration. They operate with a dynamic approach, supporting divers through everything from their first breath underwater to advanced technical certifications.

Environmental stewardship is a core part of their identity. As a Blue Oceans SSI partner, the team integrates marine protection into their ethos, ensuring that your presence on the reef is as non-intrusive as possible. This commitment extends to their partnership with the association LONGITUDE 181.

A comprehensive curriculum is available through SSI, PADI, and FFESSM. Beginners can start with a First Dive or Open Water Diver course, while those looking to progress can undertake Advanced Diver, Divemaster, or Master Scuba Diver certifications.

For technical divers, the centre offers an extensive range of advanced training. This includes Nitrox, Sidemount, Decompression Diver, and Extended Range foundations. They also specialise in rebreather training, covering everything from rebreather initiation to air diluent and Trimix Normoxic rebreather diver training.

The fleet includes the Narcoz, a 13-metre boat equipped with dual 225 HP hydrojets. This vessel is designed for speed and stability, offering a spacious environment for up to 30 divers with dedicated storage space, toilets, and freshwater showers on board. It is well-equipped for technical diving, featuring double cylinder locations and decompression cylinder support.

For smaller groups or different profiles, the Nautica II is a 10.80-metre motorboat that carries up to 22 divers. It is designed for comfort, featuring sun protection covers, toilets, and hot water showers to make the surface intervals more relaxing.

The Caouanne II is a 9.50-metre semi-rigid vessel powered by a 500 HP engine. This boat is built for stability and quick transit to the dive sites, accommodating up to 20 divers per trip.

The centre is an Aqualung partner, providing access to recent and reliable rental kit. You can hire full sets including wetsuits, regulators, BCDs, and fins, with specific items like torches, dive computers, and 6L decompression cylinders also available for hire.

Shore-based facilities include changing rooms, toilets, and hot water showers. The centre also features a dedicated classroom for theory work and a Wi-Fi enabled area for divers to relax between sessions.

The marine life around Bormes-les-Mimosas is exceptionally diverse. You will encounter large pelagics and interesting species such as Amberjack (Seriola), Ocean sunfish (Mola mola), and various schools of fish. The rocky structures and walls are often home to Groupers (Epinephelus) and Moray eel (Muraenidae).

The reefs and wrecks are draped in beautiful sessile life, including various gorgonians and sponges. You can often spot Sea fan (Gorgoniidae) providing colour and texture to the underwater landscape.

For those interested in macro life, the area provides plenty of interest with octopuses, various scorpionfish (Scorpaenidae), and Red scorpionfish (Scorpaena scrofa). You may also find Spiny lobster (Palinuridae) tucked into crevices and different types of anemones throughout the sites.

Diving in this region involves navigating the protected waters of the Port-Cros National Park. Some sites, such as Pointe de la Croix, are known for having currents that can be capricious, requiring careful planning and experience.

The centre offers various trip types, including night dives and sunset dives, allowing you to experience the marine environment under different light conditions.
