La Sirene Plongee

Located in Argelès-sur-Mer within the Pyrénées-Méditerranée, La Sirène Plongée has been a fixture of the local diving community since 1989. The centre is situated near Port Argelès and focuses on providing a calm, contemplative diving experience within the marine park of the Golfe du Lion.

Rather than chasing high-adrenaline environments, the centre emphasises a deep understanding of the marine environment and personal well-being. Most explorations are conducted around the 20-metre zone, ensuring a safe and rewarding experience for those looking to observe the richness of the Mediterranean seabed.

The centre holds a PADI Certificate of Recognition for Excellence, reflecting its long-standing commitment to instructional standards. The pedagogical direction is led by Manोn Roignant, a highly qualified professional holding the DEJEPS E3 qualification, including additional certifications in deep diving and tutoring.

Instruction is available for all ages, with programmes specifically designed for children and teenagers starting from 8 years old. For adult divers looking to refine their skills, the centre offers dedicated coaching to optimise buoyancy and movement.

Teaching is supported by a unique Video-Assisted Acquisition method, which is rare in Europe. Each session is filmed, allowing you to debrief with your instructor and review your motor skills to ensure better technical progression.

La Sirène Plongée offers a comprehensive range of PADI certifications. Beginners can start with the Scuba Diver or Open Water Diver courses, with further progression available through the Advanced Open Water Diver programme.

For those looking to brush up on existing skills, the Re-activate Touch course is available. The centre also provides specialised coaching for divers wanting to perfect their technique and marine discovery stages that include both pool sessions and sea outings.

The Sirena is a 32-foot vedette powered by a 300 HP Caterpillar inboard engine. The boat has a capacity for 12 clients, ensuring that groups remain manageable during trips out to the marine park.

Departures typically begin at 08:00. The vessel serves as the primary platform for guided explorations and training dives throughout the Golfe du Lion.

The centre is fully equipped for hire, providing the necessary kit for your dives. They utilise Aqualung equipment throughout the facility.

On-site, a Bauer filling station is available for cylinder services. For those staying at the nearby Camping ***** la Sirène, a minibus shuttle service is provided to transport you to the centre at Port Argelès.

The marine park of the Golfe du Lion is home to over 1,700 species. The seabed is characterised by a diverse range of life, including various types of sea pens and purple sea fans that provide structure to the environment.

In the sandy areas and rocky outcrops, you can encounter octopuses and conger eel (Congridae). The local ecosystem supports a variety of mobile species, including different types of pout and anthias (Anthias).

Macro enthusiasts will find plenty to observe, from various flabellina nudibranchs to different species of sea stars. These smaller inhabitants add significant detail to the Mediterranean reefs and rocky formations.
