Mimpi Dive Center Menjangan

Mimpi Dive Center Menjangan is situated in a secluded corner of Bali, tucked away within the West Bali National Park. Established in 1998, the centre is part of the larger Mimpi Resort Menjangan, a family-run complex that has operated in this area for over two decades.

The location is specifically chosen for its proximity to the Menjangan Island reefs, which are famous for their healthy, colourful coral formations. The waters here are known for being clear, calm, and warm, providing an ideal environment for both reef exploration and photography.

As a PADI dive resort, the centre focuses on providing a professional diving experience within a relaxed, family-oriented atmosphere. The resort has been a fixture of the local diving community since the late 1990s, offering a stable and experienced base for divers.

The reefs around Menjangan are defined by their high density of hard corals (Scleractinia) and soft corals (Alcyonacea), creating a complex landscape for marine life. You will find a vast array of reef fish, including various species of angelfish (Pomacanthidae), butterflyfish (Chaetodon), and snapper (Lutjanus) patrolling the coral heads.

Larger animals are a regular presence in these waters. You can expect to see sea turtles (Cheloniidae), including Hawksbill turtles (Eretmochelys imbricata) and Green sea turtles (Chelonia mydas), alongside various species of sharks such as Whitetip reef sharks (Triaenodon obesus), Blacktip reef sharks (Carcharhinus melanopterus), and occasionally the Bali wobbegong shark.

For those with an eye for detail, the macro life is extensive. The area is home to numerous nudibranchs, pygmy seahorses (Hippocampus bargibanti), and various species of shrimp and crabs. You may also encounter ghost pipefish (Solenostomidae), leaf scorpionfish, and various species of octopus and cuttlefish (Sepiidae) among the reef structures.

Pelagic sightings are also possible, with various jacks (Carangidae), trevallies, and occasionally larger species like the Manta ray (Mobula alfredi) or even the seasonal ocean sunfish (Mola mola) passing through the area.

The diving in this region is characterised by calm and warm waters, making it an accessible location for a wide range of skill levels. The protected nature of the West Bali National Park helps maintain stable conditions for reef exploration.
