Mango Dive & Bungalow

Mango Dive & Bungalow provides a dedicated diving base on the island of Gili Trawangan, Lombok. Situated away from the main busy strip, the centre offers a more relaxed atmosphere while remaining only a short distance from the island's restaurants and night market.

The facility combines a professional SSI dive centre with beachfront accommodation. You can choose from various bungalow styles, including Standard, Superior, Lumbung, and Sea View Apartments, all featuring air conditioning, refrigerators, and safes. The site includes a tropical garden, a swimming pool, and a private beach with a bar for post-dive drinks.

The centre is run by an experienced team of multilingual instructors capable of teaching in English, French, German, and Spanish. This allows for personalised instruction and clear communication during both training sessions and guided explorations.

Safety and professional standards are central to the operation, with the centre following GIDA (Gili Islands Dive Association) guidelines. To ensure close supervision, the centre maintains a ratio of a maximum of four divers per guide, making it a suitable environment for both students and experienced divers looking for attentive guidance.

As an SSI affiliated centre, Mango Dive & Bungalow offers a comprehensive curriculum. You can begin with Discover Scuba Diving or the Scuba Diver course, progressing through to Open Water Diver and Advanced Open Water.

For those looking to specialise or advance their careers, the centre provides a wide array of courses. This includes Nitrox, Deep Diver, Wreck Diver, Drift Diving, and Search & Recovery. Professional training is also available, covering the Stress & Rescue Diver and Divemaster levels.

The centre provides full kit hire, which is included in the price of guided dives. This covers the essential equipment needed for your sessions on the reef.

Nitrox is available for divers looking to extend their bottom time. The centre also maintains oxygen safety equipment on-site for emergency use.

The reefs around the Gilis are teeming with life, particularly sea turtles (Cheloniidae). You will regularly encounter green turtle (Chelonia mydas) and hawksbill turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata) populations. Large schools of fish, including fusiliers (Caesio), jacks (Carangidae), and snappers (Lutjanus), move through the water columns.

Predators are a regular feature, with whitetip reef sharks (Triaenodon obesus) and blacktip reef sharks (Carcharhinus melanopterus) patrolling the sites. You may also spot eagle rays (Aetobatus) and various other stingrays (Batoidea) cruising the sandy bottom.

The reef structure itself is a vibrant landscape of hard coral (Scleractinia), sea fans (Gorgoniidae), and colourful sponges. These habitats support a massive variety of reef fish, such as angelfish (Pomacanthidae), butterflyfish (Chaetodon), and parrotfish (Calotomus).

For macro enthusiasts, the sites offer plenty to investigate. Look for nudibranchs (Chromodoris willani), ghost pipefish (Solenostomidae), and various species of shrimp (Caridea). You can also find reef octopuses (Octopus vulgaris), moray eels (Muraenidae), and scorpionfish (Scorpaenidae) tucked into the crevices of the reef.

Diving conditions vary significantly depending on the site selected. While some locations like Turtle Heaven offer calm, low-current environments, sites such as Shark Point and Deep Turbo are known for stronger currents and more dynamic underwater landscapes.

Dive plans are adjusted by the guides based on your certification level and the prevailing conditions on the day to ensure safety and enjoyment.
