The High Dive Gili Gede

The High Dive Gili Gede sits on the quiet island of Gili Gede, situated southwest of Lombok. Established in 2017 and renovated in 2022, the centre offers a way to experience the 'Secret Gilis' away from the more crowded diving hubs. It is a place where the rhythm of the day is set by the tides and the island lifestyle.

Whether you are looking to complete your initial certifications or seeking advanced specialty training, the centre provides a base for exploring the rich biodiversity of the region. The location is accessible via fast boat from Bali or through various transfer routes from Lombok and the northern Gilis.

The diving team is composed of experienced professionals dedicated to education and ocean conservation. They manage small groups to ensure a personalised experience, with a maximum of four divers per guide.

Beyond the water, the centre is integrated into a community that supports local reef protection initiatives. The staff focuses on creating a safe and professional environment for all levels of training, from Discover Scuba Diving through to advanced specialties.

The centre is a PADI facility offering a comprehensive range of courses. For those starting their journey, they offer Discover Scuba Diving and the PADI Open Water Diver course.

Experienced divers can progress through the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver, Rescue Diver, and Deep Diver courses. The curriculum also includes specialised training such as PADI Enriched Air Diver (Nitrox), Peak Performance Buoyancy, Underwater Navigator, and Search & Recovery. For those interested in the technical side of the hobby, PADI Digital Underwater Photographer and Project AWARE Fish Identification are also available.

The centre provides full kit hire for those not travelling with their own equipment. On-site facilities include a restaurant and beachfront villas for those choosing a dive and stay package.

Safety is a priority, with oxygen, first aid kits, and essential safety equipment kept readily available. Nitrox is available for divers looking to extend their no-decompression limits.

The reefs are home to a vast array of larger species, including various sharks, green turtles, and hawksbill turtles. You will frequently encounter large schools of reef fish, barracuda, snapper, and trevally, alongside moray eels and various species of rays.

For those interested in macro photography, the area is exceptional. The soft corals and gorgonians host a wealth of small creatures, such as pygmy seahorses, nudibranchs, ghost pipefish, and various types of shrimp.

Crustaceans are also abundant, with sightings of crabs, lobsters, and porcelain crabs tucked into the reef structure. You might also find octopus, cuttlefish, and various species of anemonefish and blennies in the smaller crevices of the coral gardens.

The diving conditions vary from very calm areas suitable for beginners to sites with moderate currents that are ideal for drift diving. The seasonal window for the best diving is from April to October during the dry season.

During the wet season, from December to March, visibility can be reduced. The water remains warm throughout the year, providing a consistent environment for reef life.
