Manado Adventure Diving Center

Located in Manado, North Sulawesi, this centre serves as a gateway to some of the most diverse marine environments in Indonesia. From the dramatic drop-offs of the Bunaken National Park to the volcanic sands of the Lembeh Strait, the area offers a vast spectrum of underwater topographies.

Since 2018, the centre has focused on providing professional dive experiences through small groups and custom itineraries. Divers can choose to explore the deep walls of Bunaken, the unique muck sites of Lembeh, or the diverse reefs of Bangka and Manado Bay.

As a PADI 5 Star IDC centre, the team is equipped to handle everything from entry-level training to professional instructor development. The staff includes international instructors and guides who hold specific expertise in marine biology and underwater photography, ensuring you get the most out of every sighting.

Communication is streamlined through a multilingual team capable of supporting divers in English, Indonesian, Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese), and Korean. This professional approach extends to their training, which covers the full PADI spectrum, including Divemaster and Instructor Development Courses (IDC).

The training programme is comprehensive, covering all PADI levels from Open Water Diver through to Advanced Open Water Diver and Rescue Diver. For those looking to specialise, a wide array of PADI Specialty courses are available, including Deep Diver, Night Diver, and Self-Reliant Diver.

Professional development is a core strength, with the centre offering Divemaster training, Assistant Instructor programmes, and full IDC preparation. They also cater to niche interests with Sidemount Diver, DPV Diver, and Underwater Videography courses, as well as Freediver training.

The centre provides a full range of high-quality rental kit for those not travelling with their own equipment. This includes regulators, wetsuits, and fins, alongside torches for night diving sessions.

Nitrox is available on-site for divers looking to extend their bottom times. The centre also offers airport transfer services to ensure a smooth arrival for your diving holiday.

The region is famous for its large pelagics and reef inhabitants. You can regularly encounter green sea turtles, hawksbill turtles, reef sharks, and blacktip reef sharks. Larger animals such as Napoleon wrasse, barracudas, and eagle rays frequent the walls, while dolphins and pilot whales are often seen in the surrounding waters.

For macro enthusiasts, the area is unparalleled. The Lembeh Strait provides access to a staggering variety of rare creatures, including the Wunderpus octopus, mimic octopus, flamboyant cuttlefish, and various species of hairy frogfish. You will also find pygmy seahorses, nudibranchs, and Mandarinfish in the reef crevices.

The fixed life provides a vibrant backdrop to every dive, with massive gorgonians, barrel sponges, and vast forests of Acropora corals. The walls are heavily encrusted with soft corals, fan corals, and various species of sea anemones that house clownfish.

Diving conditions vary significantly depending on the specific location. Bunaken and Manado Bay generally experience low to moderate currents, making them accessible for a wide range of experience levels. In contrast, sites like Pangulingan and Jalan Masuk can experience strong currents, including unpredictable upwellings or downwellings.

Seasonal sightings of dugongs and sperm whales can occur, though these are not guaranteed. The visibility across the main dive sites typically ranges between 15 and 30 metres.
