Pure Dive Resort

Pure Dive Resort is situated in Ped Village on the island of Nusa Penida, just 35 metres from the beach where the dive boats depart. Since its establishment in 2019, the centre has become a recognised name in the region, earning recognition among the top dive centres in Indonesia by DIVE Magazine.

The resort is designed for those looking to combine their diving with a comfortable stay, offering a range of boutique accommodation options including a Pool Room and several Garden Bungalows. These rooms face a central pool and garden, providing a quiet base between dives.

Whether you are visiting to complete your initial certifications or to explore the more challenging currents of the north coast, the centre provides a structured environment. The proximity to the local ports of Sanur and Kusamba makes it an accessible base for those travelling from Bali.

The team at Pure Dive Resort is multilingual, with staff able to communicate in English, Indonesian, UK English, and Malay. This ensures that communication regarding dive plans and safety protocols is clear for an international group of divers.

Safety and small group sizes are central to their operation, with a strict limit of four divers per guide. This ratio allows for more personalised attention, which is particularly beneficial when navigating the more exposed sites in the south.

The centre is an SSI affiliated facility, offering a comprehensive range of training from introductory courses to professional level certifications. They also integrate freediving into their offerings, catering to both breath-hold and scuba enthusiasts.

The centre offers a complete syllabus of SSI courses. Beginners can start with SSI Try Scuba Diving or the SSI Basic Diver programme, progressing through to the SSI Open Water Diver and SSI Advanced Adventurer certifications.

For divers looking to refine their skills or move into technical territory, the curriculum includes SSI Deep Diver, SSI Perfect Buoyancy, SSI Sidemount Diving, and SSI Drift Diving. They also provide specialised training in SSI Equipment Techniques and SSI Waves, Tides & Currents.

Professional training is available for those pursuing a career in diving, covering the SSI Rescue Diver and SSI Divemaster levels. Photography and video enthusiasts can also take the SSI Photo & Video course.

The centre operates powerful speed boats for its daily excursions. These vessels are designed to reach the various dive sites around Nusa Penida efficiently, allowing for multiple dives per day.

On board, you will find water, snacks, tea, and coffee to recharge between dives. The boats are equipped to handle the daily schedule, which includes morning departures and an afternoon slot for a third dive.

The shore-based facilities are built around a high standard of air quality, featuring a Bauer filling station with an advanced filtration system. This setup provides both standard air and Nitrox for divers looking to extend their bottom times.

For those requiring rental kit, the centre provides Scubapro equipment. This includes a full range of gear, though divers on fun dives should note that they will need to provide their own dive computer. For those undertaking training courses, a dive computer is included in the kit hire.

Additional specialised equipment is available, including 12-litre and 15-litre cylinders, as well as underwater camera rentals for those wishing to document the marine life.

The marine life in this region is driven by the nutrient-rich currents. You will regularly encounter various species of turtles, reef fish, sharks, tuna, and jacks around the various reef systems.

In the southern cleaning stations and bays, manta rays are a regular presence. If you visit between July and October, you have the opportunity to see the mola-mola at Crystal Bay.

The reef architecture provides a home for a variety of hard and soft corals, which support a diverse ecosystem of resident fish. The north coast reefs are particularly noted for their healthy coral cover.

Nusa Penida is known for its significant currents, which are a primary reason for the area's high concentration of marine life. These currents can be quite strong, especially when diving the reefs along the north coast.

The southern sites, including Manta Bay, Manta Point, and Crystal Bay, are frequently exposed to swell and surge. Divers should be prepared for these conditions when approaching the sites.
