You are in Propriano, in southern Corsica, at 12 San Giuseppu. The town centre is 500 metres away, close enough for a walk when you want provisions, a drink or a change of scenery. The sea is 700 metres away on foot, while the Gulf of Valinco offers several beaches in and around town.

Mancinu is about 0.8 miles away on foot, Lido about 0.9 miles and Puraja about 1 mile. Sampiero and Plage de Baracci are further along the coast, both roughly 1.2 to 1.3 miles away on foot. You are not staying on the sand, so beach days involve a short walk or a car rather than a few steps from your door.

For a meal out, Au Biscuit de Fozzano is around 450 metres away, La Bodega about 700 metres, and a bakery on the Corniche roughly 700 metres away. Sartène and Olmeto are both around a fifteen-minute drive, giving you an easy reason to explore beyond Propriano when the surface interval needs a change of scenery.

The useful distinction here is not a long list of room labels; it is how much space you want around your day. Couples can keep things simple in one of the smaller villas, while a group of up to five has the choice of a private-pool villa, a two-bedroom villa or a garden-view apartment. For larger groups, the three-bedroom apartment with a view accommodates up to seven, and the larger private-pool villa goes up to eight.

Every villa and apartment has a proper living area with seating, a dining area and a television, so you can spread out rather than treating the bed as the only piece of furniture in the place. Kitchens are equipped for real self-catering: refrigerator, oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher, coffee machine, kettle, toaster and kitchenware. After a day in salt water, that means cold drinks and a meal without having to go back out simply because the room has no working surface.

Air conditioning is available, as is a fan, and the accommodation has private entrances, tiled or marble floors, wardrobes and clothes-drying racks. A terrace or balcony gives you somewhere to sit outside, with a barbecue for the evenings when cooking outdoors makes more sense than finding another restaurant. You can put together breakfast before heading out, keep supplies cold in the refrigerator and cook at home when the day's exertion has taken the enthusiasm out of restaurant hunting.

The terrace barbecue gives the evening a more sociable shape, particularly if you are sharing one of the larger villas or apartments. There is also a coffee machine, kettle and toaster for the small but important business of getting moving before the day properly starts.

When you prefer someone else to handle the cooking, Propriano is close at hand. Au Biscuit de Fozzano is about a five-minute walk, La Bodega around eight minutes, and the nearby bakery gives you an easier morning option than assembling breakfast from scratch. The arrangement is flexible, but you are responsible for choosing between the kitchen and the town.

The most obvious post-dive plan is the outdoor pool, described as a mini private pool, with the garden, sun loungers, umbrellas, solarium and open-air bath close by. It is the sort of arrangement that lets you stop moving without turning the afternoon into an organised activity. Take a book, find a lounger and allow the surface interval to do its job.

For a little more structure, walking tours and tennis equipment are available on site. Board games and puzzles make the accommodation workable for families, while the living areas and terraces give couples somewhere to sit together without having to spend every evening at a bar.

Further activities take you away from the residence: hiking, cycling, fishing, snorkelling, horse riding, canoeing, windsurfing and tennis are available in the surrounding area, with some activities taking place off site. Excursion ideas include Bonifaccio, Campomorro, Sartène, Bavella, Rocappina beach, Tizzano, the creeks of Olmeto, Filitosa and the Gulf of Valinco. The property also accepts pets, so your travelling companion need not have gills to come along.

Arrival is from 17:00 and departure is by 10:00. You need to tell the property when you expect to arrive, which matters if your journey includes a late flight, a long drive across Corsica or the sort of delay that appears whenever a ferry, mountain road and holiday traffic meet. Private check-in and check-out, express check-in and check-out, and luggage storage are available.

Figari-Sud Corse Airport is about 29 miles away by road, with a driving time of roughly 43 minutes. Ajaccio Napoléon Bonaparte Airport is about 36 miles away by road and takes around an hour. Private parking is available on site without reservation, and Wi-Fi is free throughout the property.

The accommodation is non-smoking, and parties or events are not allowed. Cash, Visa and Mastercard are accepted.
