Laguna Gili Dive Center

Established in 2018, Laguna Gili Dive Center is a professional PADI IDC centre situated on the Gili Islands, Indonesia. The centre is positioned to take full advantage of the archipelago's rich marine biodiversity, offering access to a variety of underwater environments ranging from shallow reef flats to deeper wreck sites.

The centre is closely integrated with the Laguna Gili Beach Resort, located directly on the beach of Gili Trawangan. This provides a streamlined experience for divers looking for convenient access to the water and professional dive services in a tropical setting.

The instructional team is highly qualified, comprising seven professional instructors. The staff includes a PADI Course Director, Master Instructors, and IDC Staff Instructors, ensuring that the centre can support divers through every level of the PADI system.

Beyond standard recreational training, the team provides specialised instruction in sidemount through the official Razor Instructor programme. The staff is capable of conducting training in English, German, and Indonesian, making it accessible to a wide range of international divers.

Laguna Gili Dive Center offers a complete spectrum of PADI training. For those new to the water, the curriculum begins with Discover Scuba Diving and the Bubble Maker programme, progressing through Scuba Diver and Open Water Diver certifications.

Advanced divers can specialise through various PADI Specialty courses, including Enriched Air (Nitrox) Diver, Deep Diver, Wreck Diver, Night Diver, and Boat Diver. The centre also provides technical training through the Razor sidemount programmes, covering everything from Basic Sidemount Open Water to Sidemount Rescue.

For those pursuing a professional career, the centre is an IDC centre, offering the Divemaster Training Program, Instructor Development Course (IDC), and pathways to becoming a Specialty Instructor or Master Scuba Diver Trainer.

The centre operates two distinct vessels to suit different diving requirements. Grandmama is a spacious boat designed for larger groups of 10 divers or more, providing a stable platform for daily excursions.

For smaller groups or more manoeuvrable trips, the centre uses Cucu, a dinghy capable of carrying 5 to 6 people. Both vessels allow you to reach the surrounding reefs and wrecks of the Gili Islands efficiently.

The shore-based facilities are modern and designed for efficient dive preparation. Divers have access to a multi-level glass training pool with depths of 1.3m, 3m, and 5m, which is ideal for skill practice or course work. The centre also features a dedicated rinsing area with showers and secure lockers for your equipment.

For gas management, the centre utilises a BAUER PureAir Silver Station compressor. Nitrox is available for divers, and the centre is equipped to support technical diving, including rebreather and Trimix requirements.

The reefs are teeming with a vast array of tropical fish, including colourful reef fish, snapper (Lutjanus), and large snappers. You will frequently encounter various species such as triggerfish (Balistidae), surgeonfish (Acanthuridae), and unicornfish (Naso), alongside schools of fusilier (Caesio) and jack (Carangidae).

Large pelagic visitors and reef inhabitants include reef sharks (Carcharhinus), blacktip reef sharks, and whitetip reef sharks (Triaenodon obesus). Divers may also spot rays (Batoidea), eagle ray (Aetobatus), and occasionally manta ray (Mobula alfredi). Sea turtles, including green turtle (Chelonia mydas) and hawksbill turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata), are common throughout the area.

For macro enthusiasts, the sites offer significant biodiversity. You can find pygmy seahorse hiding in gorgonians, alongside various nudibranch (Chromodoris willani), frogfish (Antennarius), and octopus (Octopus vulgaris). Other interesting small life includes garden eels (Gorgasia), pipefish, and various crustaceans.

The underwater landscape is built on a foundation of diverse corals and gorgonians, providing a complex habitat for the local marine life.

Diving in the Gili Islands is possible year-round. Currents at various sites vary from gentle to moderate, with some locations like Glennusa Wreck experiencing moderate currents that can facilitate drift diving.
