iDIVE Komodo operates in the heart of the Komodo National Park, providing access to some of the most celebrated dive sites in Indonesia. Based in Labuan Bajo, the centre combines extensive local knowledge with professional management to navigate the unique conditions of the Flores Sea.

Daily trips depart from the harbour at 7:15 am, typically returning around 4:30 pm. Each excursion visits three different locations, allowing you to experience the diverse topography of the park, from shallow coral slopes to deep, high-energy pinnacles.

The dive team brings over 10 years of experience guiding across Indonesia, including six years specifically within Komodo National Park. This local expertise is central to their approach, ensuring they can read the currents and find the best conditions for your certification level.

Safety is managed through strict adherence to diving standards, with a maximum ratio of four divers per guide. The team provides comprehensive briefings before every dive to ensure everyone is prepared for the specific characteristics of the site.

As an SSI certified partner, the centre offers a complete range of training from beginner to advanced levels. You can start with the Try Scuba programme or progress through the Open Water Course and the Advanced Adventurer Course.

For divers looking to refine their skills or move towards professional levels, they offer the Stress & Rescue Course and the React Right course. Nitrox certification is also available to help you optimise your nitrogen loading during dives.

The centre utilises comfortable wooden boats for its daily excursions. These vessels are equipped with essential safety gear, including marine GPS, VHF radio, life jackets, and emergency oxygen.

On board, you are provided with tea, coffee, drinking water, a light breakfast, snacks, fruit, and lunch. The boats are designed to make the transit to the dive sites as relaxed as possible, with mattresses and bean bags available for lounging between dives.

The centre maintains dive kit in excellent condition and offers full equipment hire for those travelling without their own rig. For those looking to extend their bottom time, Nitrox is available for use.

Shore-based safety includes a first aid kit, fire extinguishers, and emergency oxygen. The office team is available to assist with gear preparation and booking logistics prior to your departure.

The waters of Komodo are famous for large pelagics and vibrant reef life. You will frequently encounter Reef Manta (Mobula alfredi), Eagle ray (Aetobatus), and various species of sharks, including Grey reef shark (Carcharhinus amblyrhynchos), Whitetip reef shark (Triaenodon obesus), and Bamboo shark (Chiloscyllium).

The reefs are teeming with colourful fish such as Napoleon wrasse (Cheilinus undulatus), various species of Sweetlips (Plectorhinchus), and large schools of Fusilier (Caesio) and Barracuda. You might also spot Hawksbill turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata), Unicornfish (Naso), and various species of Snapper (Lutjanus).

The seascape is defined by a healthy abundance of hard corals, soft corals, and various Sponges (Porifera), including large sea fans. These structures provide a home for a vast array of reef fish and crustaceans.

For macro enthusiasts, the sites offer plenty of surprises. Look closely for Nudibranch (Chromodoris willani), Pygmy seahorse (Hippocampus bargibanti), Octopus (Octopus vulgaris), Mantis shrimp, and various species of Crab (Brachyura) and Shrimp (Caridea).

Komodo is well known for its advanced dive sites that feature strong currents. Divers should be prepared for drift diving, and in some locations like Cauldron, you may encounter exhilarating rip currents.

While many sites are suitable for beginners, the park's reputation for high-energy water movement means that advanced divers will find the most rewarding experiences at the deeper pinnacles and channel sites.
