Signature Scuba

Located in North Lombok, Signature Scuba operates primarily out of Gili Trawangan, offering a gateway to some of the most diverse marine habitats in Indonesia. Founded by local divers Fandy and Yadi, the centre has grown into a Premier Training Center for both PADI and SSI, maintaining a family-run atmosphere that avoids the feel of a high-volume commercial operation.

Whether you are looking to complete your first certification or are pursuing professional levels, the centre provides a structured environment with a focus on local knowledge. Their reach extends beyond Gili Trawangan through the Signature Scuba Group, which includes facilities in Gili Gede and Kuta Lombok, allowing for varied diving expeditions across the region.

The team is comprised of experienced, certified instructors, including Sam and Ogik, who were raised in the local area. This provides a significant advantage for divers wanting to understand the specific nuances of the local currents, seasonal shifts, and cultural context of the Lombok islands.

Safety and small group sizes are central to their operational philosophy, with a strict limit of four divers per guide. This ensures that instruction remains personalised, whether you are working on buoyancy in a controlled environment or navigating a drift dive on a reef.

Beyond standard recreational diving, the centre manages specialised excursions such as spearfishing and dive camping trips. These require a high level of local expertise to navigate safely and effectively.

As a Premier Training Center, Signature Scuba offers a comprehensive syllabus through both PADI and SSI. Beginners can start with the Scuba Diver or Junior Open Water courses, progressing through to the full Open Water Diver certification.

For those looking to advance their skills, the centre provides the Advance Adventurer, Deep Diving, and Navigation courses, alongside specialized training like Perfect Buoyancy and Night Diving and Limited Visibility. Enriched Air Nitrox is also available for divers looking to extend their bottom times.

Professional divers can pursue the Divemaster programme, and the centre offers Rescue Diver and Rescue React EFR combinations. Specialist training is also available for wreck diving enthusiasts.

The centre provides a full range of rental kit for those not travelling with their own equipment. This includes regulators, BCDs, wetsuits, fins, and masks, all maintained to professional standards.

For night diving, torches are available for hire. The centre also ensures that all training courses include the necessary digital learning materials and professional instruction, with underwater photos and videos provided to help you track your progress.

The reefs around the Gili Islands are vibrant, featuring healthy hard corals and lush soft coral gardens. You will regularly encounter green sea turtles and hawksbill turtles navigating the reef flats and walls, alongside various species of reef sharks, including whitetip and blacktip varieties.

Large pelagics and schooling fish are common, with sightings of trevally, barracuda, and various snappers. During the peak season from July to October, you may also encounter manta rays at cleaning stations.

For macro enthusiasts, the area offers significant variety. Keep an eye out for nudibranchs, seahorses, octopus, cuttlefish, frogfish, and mantis shrimp tucked into the reef structure.

Other frequent residents include angelfish, butterflyfish, parrotfish, moorish idols, and triggerfish, as well as stingrays and eagle rays patrolling the sandy areas.

Diving is best experienced during the dry season from April to October. The peak period for the best visibility and sightings of mantas is between July and September.

Conditions vary significantly depending on the site. While most reefs experience gentle to moderate currents, deeper pinnacles and walls such as Meno Wall and Halik Reef can be subject to strong currents.
