Located in Nusa Penida, Bali, Karma Diving operates in one of the most dynamic marine environments in Indonesia. The area is defined by its nutrient-rich waters, which attract significant pelagic life and create challenging, rewarding drift diving conditions.

The centre serves as a base for exploring the famous reefs and walls of the region, specifically targeting the high-visibility bays and the dramatic drop-offs of the southern coast. Whether you are looking to complete your initial certifications or are an experienced diver seeking out Mola-mola, the local topography offers a diverse range of habitats.

The team is composed of four professional instructors, providing a guided ratio of up to four divers per guide. This ensures close supervision during the technical drift dives that the region is known for.

Instruction is delivered through both SSI and French FFESSM/ANMP standards. The team includes a French state-certified E4 instructor, bringing high-level pedagogical expertise to the training programmes. Additionally, the presence of a marine biologist on staff allows for a more educational approach to the local ecology during your dives.

The centre offers a comprehensive range of training from entry-level courses to professional certifications. You can begin with Try Scuba, Scuba Diver, or the SSI Open Water Diver course. For those looking to advance, they provide Advanced Open Water, Deep Specialty, and Perfect Buoyancy training.

More technical and skill-based courses are also available, including Enriched Air Nitrox, Navigation, Waves, Tides & Current, and Diver Stress & Rescue. For those pursuing a professional path, the Divemaster programme is offered, alongside French-standard Niveau 1, 2, and 3 certifications.

Full equipment hire is available on-site for those not travelling with their own kit. For those looking to document their dives, GoPro cameras can be rented for use during excursions.

Nitrox is available for divers looking to extend their bottom time. The centre is set up to support both morning dive schedules and afternoon sessions upon request, including night diving capabilities.

The waters around Nusa Penida are a magnet for large pelagic species. You can regularly encounter Manta ray (Mobula alfredi), ocean sunfish, and various sharks, including the Whitetip reef shark (Triaenodon obesus) and Blacktip reef shark (Carcharhinus melanopterus). Schools of fish, including Jacks (Carangidae) and various reef fish, move through the nutrient-rich currents.

The reef structures themselves are vibrant, built upon Hard coral (Scleractinia) and Soft coral (Alcyonacea) formations, with various Sponges (Porifera) providing habitat for smaller inhabitants. You will frequently see Green sea turtle (Chelonia mydas) and Hawksbill turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata) navigating the reef tops.

For those interested in macro life, the crevices and corals host a variety of smaller organisms. Look for Frogfish (Antennarius), Scorpionfish (Scorpaenidae), and various Nudibranch (Chromodoris willani). You may also spot mantis shrimp, orangutan crabs, and various species of crabs and small invertebrates among the reef architecture.

Nusa Penida is defined by its currents, which are driven by tidal shifts and can range from weak to very strong. The northern sites are primarily drift dives where the current typically moves in a consistent direction, making them excellent for practising current management.

Swell can be a factor, particularly at sites like Manta's Point, where waves can reach several metres. Crystal Bay offers more protection as a bay, but the walls there can experience powerful upcurrents or downcurrents that require an experienced diver.
