Families are welcome, children of all ages can stay, and the hotel also suits couples who would rather step out for dinner than eat in the same dining room every night.

The useful rhythm is simple: breakfast in the hotel, the port and beaches within reach, then air conditioning, soundproofing and a private bathroom when you return. Nothing theatrical. Just a central place to sleep, eat and organise the next day.

The address is 12 Avenue du Général de Gaulle, in Bastia, Corsica. You are in the city, close to shops and the port, with Bastia station about half a mile away. The Hôtel de Ville is a seven-minute walk, while the Eglise Saint Jean Baptiste is around half a mile from the hotel. Jardin Romieu is roughly three-quarters of a mile away, giving you a small change of scenery when the town starts to feel too urban.

The sea is close, but this is not a hotel with its own shoreline outside the door. Minelli Beach is about 0.7 miles away on foot, with golden sand, sun loungers and parasols. Saint Joseph Beach is around 1.1 miles away, and Pietranera Beach about 1.5 miles by car. For a proper beach stroll, Arinella and Griogione are both roughly 2.5 miles away by car.

Bastia Port is under 1 km away, which matters if your onward journey involves a ferry or a boat. Bastia-Poretta Airport is about 11 miles away by road, around a 20-minute drive. Calvi–Sainte-Catherine Airport is considerably farther, at roughly 54 miles by road.

The rooms are arranged for different kinds of stay, and the choice matters more here than it might at a larger resort. The Standard Double Room is the compact option, better suited to a solo diver or a short stop when the room is mainly for sleeping. For two people, the Superior Double Room gives you more breathing room, while the Double Room with Terrace adds a private outdoor space for a quiet coffee or a place to sit before heading back into town.

Travelling as three, the Junior Suite with Terrace is the sensible choice: it provides the extra room that three adults and their luggage will quickly appreciate. The Basic Triple Room uses three single beds, which is more practical for a group of diving companions than negotiating who gets the sofa or the suspiciously narrow spare bed. Family rooms are also available.

Every room has air conditioning, soundproofing, parquet flooring, a desk, wardrobe, television and free WiFi. That combination is more useful than a decorative feature list when you are trying to cool down, charge a phone and sleep through a city night. City views are part of the setup, and selected rooms have terraces. Private bathrooms include a bath or shower, towels and a hairdryer.

Vegetarian and gluten-free dishes are available, which is worth knowing before you arrive hungry and discover that your options have narrowed to chips and a polite smile. The terrace should work particularly well for the evenings when you want food and conversation rather than another walk through town.

There is one bar: Bar Le Corsaire, a lobby bar specialising in cocktails. It gives you somewhere to sit for a drink without turning the hotel into a nightclub. If you prefer to eat elsewhere, Raugi, Pizzagogo and Pignatone Bastia are all within a few minutes on foot, while La Bonbonniere café is only about 400 feet away. Room service is available until 23:00, with limited hours.

The hotel's leisure offer is built around Bastia and the coast rather than an indoor programme. You can reach the sea on foot for swimming, or arrange equipment for snorkelling, kayaking and paddleboarding. Boat excursions are also available, giving you a way to spend time on the water without turning every day into another dive schedule.

On land, cycling, hiking and cultural excursions keep the non-diving days moving. The hotel offers excursions towards Cap Corse, Saint-Florent and Patrimonio, so you can trade the harbour for villages, coastal roads and Corsican wine country. Car hire is available if you would rather set your own timetable, although the central address makes much of Bastia manageable on foot.

There is no need to manufacture entertainment when the town is this close. After a dive, you can take a slow walk towards the beach, sit on the hotel terrace, or head into Bastia for a meal. Babysitting and a children’s menu are available for family trips, while the city setting gives couples more choice than a fixed resort timetable.

Bastia-Poretta Airport is about 11 miles from the hotel by road, roughly 20 minutes by car. An airport transfer can be arranged on request, and car hire is available. The port is under 1 km away, while the town centre is around a five-minute walk, so the address works well for combining a stay with a ferry crossing or a few days in the city.

Check-in runs from 15:00 to 22:00 and check-out from 07:00 to 11:00. The minimum age for check-in is 18. Early arrival and late departure can be requested, subject to the hotel’s arrangements.
