Campo di Mare is a three-star residence in a natural park near Porto-Vecchio, built around the practical pleasures of a self-catering stay. You get your own chalet, outdoor space and a proper kitchenette, rather than a room designed mainly for sleeping between excursions.

The arrangement suits divers who prefer a little independence: keep breakfast simple, return to your own terrace, and decide for yourself whether dinner means cooking, using the barbecue or heading out to a nearby restaurant. Families are well catered for too, with two- and three-bedroom chalets, a playground and indoor and outdoor play areas.

The website is available in English and French, so English-speaking guests are clearly part of the intended audience. The residence itself is a pedestrian-only park, with a night watchman on site each evening and quiet hours from 22:00 to 07:00.

You are staying in Porto-Vecchio, at Lieu-dit Pezza Cardo, around 1.9 miles north of the town centre. The address sits away from the bustle, but not in the middle of nowhere: Restaurant l'Alivi Pezza Cardo is about 0.4 miles away, with Rôtisserie Franky and Le Figuier also within roughly 0.4 miles.

Stagnoli Bay is the closest named beach, around 0.3 miles away by the listed route. Marina di Fiori Beach is about 0.9 miles away, while Palombaggia Beach is around 4.3 miles from the residence. Those are useful distances for a beach day, though you should not mistake the property for a seafront hotel.

Figari-Sud Corse Airport is about 16 miles away by road. The approach from the Bonifacio, Ajaccio or Figari direction follows the western bypass towards Bastia, then the signs for Saint-Cyprien and Pezza Cardo; the residence is about 550 yards beyond the relevant roundabout, just after Camping Pezza Cardo.

The accommodation is made up of air-conditioned mobile-home-style chalets with a private entrance, a seating area and a terrace. Garden views keep the setting grounded in the park rather than promising a sea view that is not part of the accommodation description. A drying rack, wardrobe and outdoor furniture are useful touches when you have spent the day moving between swims, showers and sandy kit.

The two-bedroom chalets are the sensible choice for a couple travelling with children or for a small group that wants separate sleeping spaces. The three-bedroom option gives a larger party more room to spread out, while the accessible two-bedroom chalet is on the ground floor and includes wheelchair access, a lower bathroom sink, raised toilet and grab rails.

Inside, the kitchenette has a stovetop, microwave, refrigerator, coffee machine, kettle, kitchenware and a dining table. That means cold drinks can be waiting when you come back tired, and you can make a quick meal without turning the evening into a restaurant expedition. Air conditioning helps with warm Corsican nights; the private bathroom has a shower, and some accommodation options have two bathrooms.

Bed linen and towels are not part of the standard arrangement and can be rented on site. It is a small but important detail for anyone travelling with dive bags already taking up half the boot.

This is primarily a self-catering address, so the kitchenette matters more here than a formal hotel dining room. You have a refrigerator, cooking equipment, utensils and an indoor dining area, plus an outdoor dining area and barbecue facilities for an evening meal in the park.

Breakfast is continental, with a breakfast-to-go option for mornings when you would rather leave promptly than sit over a long meal. The seasonal snack bar and bar give you an easier answer when you want something simple without cooking, particularly during the main season.

For a change of scene, three restaurants sit within roughly 0.4 miles: Restaurant l'Alivi Pezza Cardo, Rôtisserie Franky Porto-Vecchio and Le Figuier. After a day on a boat, that is close enough to be useful, although the residence’s own kitchen remains the most flexible option.

The outdoor pool is the obvious place to cool down when the Mediterranean has delivered rather too much sunshine. Sun loungers, umbrellas, a solarium and garden space give you somewhere to stop without having to organise another outing.

For a slower afternoon, there is a boules pitch, table tennis and darts. None of this requires a timetable or a heroic level of energy, which is precisely the point after an active day. The shared lounge and TV area, board games and indoor play area offer alternatives when the weather turns or younger members of the group need a change of scenery.

You also have access to a fitness room, an open-air bath and a hot tub or Jacuzzi. The fitness room is for adults, or for children accompanied by an adult. A children’s playground and outdoor play equipment make the residence easier to share with family, while the pedestrian layout keeps the accommodation area free from vehicle traffic.

Private parking is available at the entrance of the park, and vehicles do not circulate inside the residence. You therefore leave the car outside and walk to your chalet, which is worth factoring in when you are carrying luggage. An electric vehicle charging station is also available.

Check-in runs from 17:00 to 19:00 and check-out from 08:30 to 10:00. You need to give the property your expected arrival time, particularly if you plan to arrive after 19:00, and photo identification and a credit card are required at check-in. A refundable damage deposit is collected by card on arrival and returned after the accommodation has been inspected.

Public-area Wi-Fi is available. The residence also has a shared lounge, express check-in and check-out, laundry facilities and daily housekeeping. Laundry and housekeeping carry an additional charge, while bed linen and towels can be arranged on site. Cots are available for young children, but there are no extra beds.
