Batu Belah, Tulamben: Coral Gardens on a Sandy Slope

Diving Batu Belah, you'll find a geological profile that stands apart from many other sites in the Tulamben area. The dive begins over a sandy bottom, which gradually slopes down, revealing a significant coral complex. This substantial aggregation of both hard and soft corals rises from the sand, creating an intricate habitat that truly differentiates it from the more common volcanic rock formations and wreck sites found nearby. It forms a living structure where you might otherwise expect barren sand, offering a striking contrast.
