Bali Conservation Diving

The reefs around Tulamben are vibrant, supported by a healthy variety of corals, sea fans (Gorgoniidae), sponges (Porifera), and crinoids. You will find a wealth of reef fish including angelfish (Pomacanthidae), butterflyfish (Chaetodon), snapper (Lutjanus), and various species of wrasse (Labridae) moving through the structure.

Large pelagics and schooling fish are a regular feature of the local waters. Keep an eye out for sharks such as blacktip reef sharks (Carcharhinus melanopterus), whitetip reef sharks (Triaenodon obesus), and reef sharks (Carcharhinus). You may also encounter eagle rays (Aetobatus), spotted eagle rays, manta rays (Mobula alfredi), and various species of tuna (Thunnus) or jacks (Carangidae) passing through the area.

For macro enthusiasts, the area is exceptionally diverse. You can find a wide array of nudibranchs, including the Shaun the Sheep nudibranch and donut dorid nudibranchs, alongside various sea slugs. The smaller inhabitants include pygmy seahorses (Hippocampus bargibanti), thorny seahorses, and common seahorses, as well as ghost pipefish (Solenostomidae) and various species of dragonets.

Crustaceans and cephalopods are also abundant. Look for mimic octopuses, wonderpus octopuses, and blue-ringed octopuses among the crevices. The reef is home to harlequin shrimps, boxer shrimp, cleaner shrimp (Lysmata), and various species of crabs, including porcelain crabs and decorator crabs.
