Bali Dive Resort and Spa

Bali Dive Resort and Spa is a PADI 5 Star centre established in 2014 in Tulamben, later expanding to Amed in 2019. It operates as an eco-resort and is a Green Fins Gold Member, meaning sustainability is integrated into the daily operations within the Karangasem marine protected area.

The resort provides a relaxed, seaside atmosphere with two distinct locations. The Tulamben centre is positioned near the famous USAT Liberty wreck, while the Amed centre offers access to different reef systems and drift dives. Both sites share a philosophy of prioritising quality over quantity, ensuring dives are well-planned and unhurried.

The team operates with a focus on personalised service and small group sizes. Divers can expect a calm, professional environment where the schedule is adapted to local conditions rather than following a rigid, rushed timetable.

Instruction is available in English, French, Swedish, Finnish, and Indonesian. This multilingual support makes the centre a practical choice for international divers looking for clear communication during training or guided explorations.

A comprehensive range of PADI courses is available, spanning from the PADI Discover Scuba Dive for beginners to professional training such as the PADI Divemaster Course. The curriculum includes core certifications like the PADI Open Water Diver and Advanced Open Water Diver, alongside specialised training like the PADI Wreck Diver and PADI Deep Diver.

For those looking to refine their skills or move into professional territory, the centre offers the PADI Rescue Diver course and various specialty courses, including PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy and PADI Night Dive Specialty. They also provide PADI Enriched Air Nitrox training and the PADI ECO Advanced Open Water Course.

Local jukungs, the traditional fishing boats of the region, are used to reach sites such as Alamanda and Emerald. These boats allow for easy access to the nearby reefs and offer a local flavour to the diving experience.

The centre provides full rental kit, including equipment from brands such as Aqualung and Mares. For those who prefer to bring their own, there is a discount available for divers using their full personal kit.

Nitrox is available for all certified divers, with 15-litre and 9-litre cylinders offered. The centre also provides rental dive computers and GoPro 11 cameras for those who wish to document their dives.

The reefs are vibrant with fixed life, including a vast array of colorful corals, sponges (Porifera), and sea fans (Gorgoniidae). You will find various anemones and sea urchins scattered across the seabed, providing a rich habitat for resident species.

Macro life is a significant draw here, especially on the 'muck' sites like Melasti and the House Reef. Divers with a keen eye can find mimic octopuses, various species of nudibranchs, and the Shaun the Sheep nudibranch. The sandy bottoms and coral patches are also home to harlequin shrimps, boxer shrimp, skeleton shrimp, and various types of pygmy seahorses (Hippocampus bargibanti).

For those looking at larger inhabitants, the area hosts turtles, reef sharks (Carcharhinus), and various species of rays, including blue spotted stingrays. On the deeper walls and in the blue, you may encounter tuna (Thunnus), marlins, and occasionally the ocean sunfish. During the season from May to November, there is also the possibility of seeing the mola mola.

Most dive sites in Tulamben experience calm conditions with little to no current, making them accessible for a wide range of experience levels. However, sites like Batu Kelebit can experience stronger currents due to the local topography.

Water temperatures typically range between 27°C and 30°C. Divers should be aware that certain areas can experience sudden changes in temperature due to upwellings.
