Dive Culture

Located in Amed on the north-east coast of Bali, Dive Culture serves as a primary hub for both recreational divers and those pursuing professional pathways. The centre is positioned to take advantage of the region's unique underwater topography, from shallow reef flats to significant wreck sites.

As a PADI 5 Star IDC centre, it holds a distinct position in the local diving community. It is currently the only facility in the Amed area offering instructor training programmes, making it a destination for divers looking to advance their careers through the PADI professional ladder.

The team consists of four professional instructors who are PADI certified and multilingual, providing instruction in both English and French. This allows for clear communication during technical briefings and underwater training sessions.

The centre emphasises a personalised approach to diving, focusing on small groups to ensure that every diver receives the necessary attention. Whether you are completing your first Open Water course or working through a Divemaster programme, the instructors aim to tailor the experience to your specific skill level.

Dive Culture offers a comprehensive curriculum of PADI courses for every stage of a diver's development. Beginners can start with the Open Water Diver and Advanced Open Water Diver programmes, while those looking to refine their skills can enrol in Peak Performance Buoyancy, Deep Diver, or Wreck Diver specialty courses.

For professional divers, the centre provides the full suite of training from Rescue Diver and Divemaster through to the Instructor Development Course (IDC). They also offer specialised training in Drift Diving, Night Diving, and Fish Identification to round out a diver's expertise.

The centre maintains a fleet of modern, well-serviced equipment available for hire, covering all the essentials from regulators to wetsuits. This includes a full range of kit for those travelling without their own gear.

For those looking to extend their bottom time or dive more efficiently, Nitrox is available on-site. The facility is designed to support both local reef explorations and excursions to more distant sites like Nusa Penida.

The reefs around Amed and Tulamben are vibrant, characterised by a wealth of hard coral (Scleractinia) and soft coral (Alcyonacea). You will find a diverse array of reef fish, including colourful reef fish, butterflyfish (Chaetodon), angelfish (Pomacanthidae), and various species of snapper (Lutjanus).

Larger residents of the area include green turtles, hawksbill turtles (Eretmochelys imbricata), and various sharks such as the whitetip reef shark (Triaenodon obesus) and blacktip reef shark (Carcharhinus melanopterus). You may also encounter rays, including blue-spotted stingrays and eagle rays (Aetobatus), as well as schools of jackfish (Carangidae) and barracuda (Sphyraena barracuda).

For macro enthusiasts, the area is exceptionally rich. Keep a sharp eye out for nudibranchs (Chromodoris willani), seahorses (Hippocampus kuda), and pygmy seahorses (Hippocampus bargibanti). The seabed also hosts a variety of crustaceans, including crabs (Brachyura), mantis shrimp (Odontodactylus scyllarus), and various species of shrimp (Caridea), alongside octopuses (Octopus vulgaris) and different types of pipefish.

The diving environment in North Bali is characterised by warm waters, typically ranging between 26°C and 30°C. This makes the area comfortable for extended sessions in a standard wetsuit.
