Diveonesia

Diveonesia is situated in Amed, Karangasem, on the eastern coast of Bali. This area is defined by its tranquil atmosphere, volcanic black sand beaches, and easy shore access, making it a preferred base for both relaxed reef diving and dedicated macro photography.

Established in 2015, the centre has grown into a cornerstone of the local diving community. It offers a range of services from beginner courses to advanced specialties, with a strong emphasis on environmental responsibility and the preservation of Indonesia's marine ecosystems.

The centre was founded by Leo, a diver with over 15 years of experience and more than 7,000 dives logged. This deep well of local knowledge informs the way the team approaches every dive, ensuring that you are guided by people who understand the specific nuances of the Bali waters.

The team is described as professional and friendly, prioritising safety and education in every session. They are well-versed in the local conditions and are committed to an eco-responsible approach to diving and conservation.

For international visitors, communication is straightforward as the centre provides information in English, French, German, Spanish, and Russian.

As an SSI affiliated centre, Diveonesia offers a comprehensive curriculum for every stage of your diving journey. Beginners can start with the Basic Diver or Open Water Diver courses, while those looking to progress can enrol in the Advanced Adventurer programme.

For more experienced divers, the centre provides technical and specialty training, including Deep Diving, Enriched Air Nitrox, and Diver Stress and Rescue. Professional paths are also available for those aiming for the Divemaster level.

The reefs around Amed and Menjangan are teeming with life, from colourful reef sharks and turtles to large schools of trevally and barracuda. You will frequently encounter bumphead parrotfish and various species of angelfish patrolling the coral gardens.

For those interested in the larger pelagics, Nusa Penida is the place to be. Manta rays can be found year-round at cleaning stations, while the Mola Mola is a seasonal highlight that can be spotted between July and October.

Macro enthusiasts will find Amed to be a sanctuary for rare and fascinating creatures. The volcanic sand and sheltered bays are perfect for spotting mimic octopuses, frogfish, and ornate ghost pipefish, alongside a vast array of nudibranchs.

The underwater landscape is further enriched by a diverse range of smaller life, including pygmy seahorses, moray eels, and various species of clownfish.

Diving conditions in the region vary significantly depending on your chosen location. In Amed and Menjangan, you can expect calm waters and low currents, making for very relaxed diving sessions.

In contrast, the waters around Nusa Penida are known for strong and unpredictable currents, which is why sites like Manta Point and Crystal Bay are recommended for advanced divers. The best period for general diving is from April to November during the dry season, though the peak months of July to October are specifically ideal for seeing Mola Mola.
