The reefs around Amed are home to a vast array of colourful reef fish and diverse coral life. You will find an abundance of hard coral (Scleractinia) and soft corals (Alcyonacea), alongside various sponges (Porifera) and sea fans (Gorgoniidae). Schools of fish, including jacks (Carangidae) and fusiliers (Caesio), move through the water, while larger residents like groupers (Epinephelinae) and various snapper species (Lutjanidae) can be seen near the reef structures.

Pelagic species and larger predators occasionally pass through the area. It is not uncommon to spot various sharks, including whitetip reef sharks (Triaenodon obesus) and blacktip reef sharks (Carcharhinus melanopterus), as well as rays and tuna (Thunnus). You may also encounter sea turtles (Cheloniidae) patrolling the reef flats.
