St Catherine, Côte Vermeille: exploring varied coastal topography

Diving St Catherine takes you through a mixed underwater topography that begins close to shore and gradually unfolds into more structured reliefs. The site is a dynamic blend of geological features, including faults within the cliff face, sheer rock walls, and plains of scattered rubble. This diversity ensures that no two dives here feel exactly alike, offering a different experience depending on your chosen profile and depth.

As you descend, the transition from shallow rock formations to deeper coralligenous massifs becomes apparent. This varied structure provides shelter and foraging grounds for a range of marine life. The depths here typically run from 7 metres, making it accessible for initial exploration, down to around 25 metres where the coralligenous environment is most developed, showing a vibrant, complex ecosystem.

The site's unique combination of features, from small fissures to large coralligenous structures, creates distinct micro-habitats. You will encounter sars (Diplodus sargus) moving through the rock formations and various bream species, including the common bream (Pagellus bogaraveo) and royal bream (Sparus aurata), often schooling near the more open areas.
